I'm Living In A Large Alaskan Igloo!

Just to put things in perspective, here are just a few pictures showing the snow around my house. I just hope it doesn't find a way to melt and run inside. From 20 below, we have warmed up to 40 above, and rain is expected. Now, where is all that snow going to go? It's concerning.

This first picture I took last night, looking out my office window toward the driveway. There is about a foot of new snow in there, or rather, there was, but I shoveled out a path to the driveway this morning. The problem was, I couldn't find anyplace to throw the snow!

That bump on the left is my car.

Now, let's move to the front porch. Here's the view out my front door.

And, on the north side of the house:

Now, here's the south side. I'm concerned about this one, as the snow is starting to melt a bit on the concrete slab. I hope it doesn't melt enough to invade my house!
Depressing! Enough, already! At least it is warm and dry inside...I sure hope it stays that way.

If you are sitting somewhere in the sunshine, please soak up a little bit for me, okay?

Wow, Fran!

Now I really know why I live in South Carolina. We did have sunshine, but it is cold. It'll be in the twenties by morning.

But...

No Snow!!!

Stay inside and keep warm and find a way to divert that melting snow so it won't come inside.

Bob

So far so good. We'll see what happens next.

It's funny that the prediction is that we might actually get some winter weather here this weekend. I am doubtful, but we will see...

If we do get anything like that white stuff on the ground, it won't last but a day or two. The sun warms things up too much for it to stay.

Lucky you. I think ours is here to stay for a while.

That's just one of the advantages of living in the Southeast United States. It does get cold like it has been the last few days, but not as cold as any part of the northern parts of this country.

Our winter here has started much earlier than usual, and with a record amount of snow. I'll handle it...I can't handle heat, though, so would not do well living in your part of the country. I do like to visit when it's not too hot, but prefer to live in my Alaskan icebox.

Fair enough. You don't like the heat, I don't like the cold... LOL!!

I guess we are both where we are supposed to be.

Wow! That's a lot of snow. I do hope that it melts without causing any damage to your home. I am not a cold weather person. I love the warm weather I guess it is because I was born and reared in the Caribbean.

Praying for you to get out of your igloo soon!

I would really like to see some of this snow go away. Until then, staying close to the wood fire.

For sure! Safe choice for the time being! Stay warm!

Some beautiful photos there Fran.. but that is an awful lot of snow!

I hope that your woodshed is a little more accessible now that the temps have risen?

The last time I remember any considerable snowfall was back in the UK in about 1988-89 maybe when I was but a wee lad!!

Take care my friend and stay warm!:-)☃️☃️

Actually, I can't get to the woodshed just now because the plow guy tried to plow last night and couldn't find anyplace to put the snow. So he's covered up my woodshed path. He was supposed to come back today with a big loader and dig me out, but no sign of him. Fortunately, I have quite a bit of wood in here yet.

Sorry you got so much all at once, Fran. If that melts on the concrete, even if it doesn't get into the house, be careful going out in the morning. It will be an ice skating rink.
I did soak up a coole of hors of sunshine today when it got into the mid sixties.
I am sure you keep plenty of food, water, and dry firewood inside for such weather as that.
Sending you a little sun.🌞🌞
Archie

Oh, yes. I'll need to dig my path to the shed out again once the plow guy gets the driveway cleaned out. I have quite a bit of wood in here, but the extra is all stored in the shed. I have plenty of food and water...got the hot water in the kitchen sink thawed out; now all is good...except that snow wall on my deck.

Wow, Fran... that's a lot of snow.

Well, I live in the Central part of Alberta, Canada and we've been in the deep-freeze for about a month (-43 Celsius). Just today, the temperature's high went up to +2 C... oh my, it's toasty warm.

Of course, we do have snow bur really not much, not like yours.

Hopefully, the snow melts SLOWLY!!

Monica

I'm with you there...flooding not needed.
