How Is Your Attitude?

It is said that the attitude we have will shape our lives. That's a very encouraging bit of information, because our attitude is something that falls within our control. When we learn how to control and direct our attitude, we will have great power over whatever happens to us.

Studies of thousands of successful people have demonstrated that they have an aura of confidence and assurance. By their attitude, they expect success, and they get it. Often you can spot the people with this attitude of self-assurance just by the way they walk, look, and act.

You will know them when they enter the room -- they will drop "clues" that tell you they have a great deal of self-confidence.

There is a great quote from William James about attitude. He said, "The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude. So, what are you waiting for? Dress yourself in an attitude of confidence and self-assurance, and you will redefine your life in good ways.

Look at the really successful people you meet. Doesn't it often seem that the bigger the person's influence, the easier it is for you to talk with them and interact with them, possibly in a business situation? It's a good sign that tells us that they have an attitude that attracts success.

Each of us shapes our lives. How it is shaped will depend on our attitude. Therefore, think about your own life. Are your attitudes the ones you need for success? If not, work on finding a way to change them.

In today's world, where change occurs constantly, our ability to adapt to this change and remain in balance will determine our success. Change and innovations appear everywhere in this age in which we live, and if we can take advantage of some of the changes, we will be ahead of many.

To live a balanced, successful life, it becomes important that we analyze our personal attitudes carefully and then choose to accept or reject them. We carry many of our attitudes through life from the days of our childhood, when we simply acepted an idea because it came from someone with authority in our eyes.

Now that we have grown, it is good to look at all these attitudes to determine which are outdated or that may be holding us back. Remember, we are in control, and we can change those attitudes if we discover they do not serve us well.

Your attitude is the composite of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. How you express them will influence the course of your life. To be a successful person, you must develop attitudes that move you in the direction of your goal.

Here is a way to work on attitude change: Try this for 30 days. Stop yourself at each negative idea and visualize how you would view it from a positive light. Then "pretend" and act out the positive attitude until it becomes a part of you.

Be alert and in tune with yourself. See if you can spot the attitudes that hold you back, and work to replace them with something more positive. Each positive change you make is a step in the right direction. Practice positive attitudes until they become real.

Attitude is so important for a great day. I can tell immediately when my attitude is "tilting"- often can get it back on center, but occasionally it takes a little time.

Keeping good reading material around helps me, some good music, or a sunny message. These are all things we can control.
Thanks for the reminder about being in control of our attitudes.
Sami

Good that you are aware of the importance of attitude. We all need to remember.

Hi, Fran

Great post!

Being adaptable and keeping a positive attitude is so important in everything we do.

It’s somewhat of a learned skill but our individual personality also plays an important part.

Frank

Yes, some of us have to learn how to stay positive and some of us do it naturally. It's an important skill.

An interesting read here.
Thank you for the advice and tips.

You are welcome. Thank YOU for reading.

That’s very sage advice, Fran and I like your 30 day suggestion. Attitude often does stem from childhood but it’s good to question thoughts and challenge their validity,

Susan

Thanks, Susan...yes, it's often hard to get rid of those old attitudes that hang around for years. Hope the suggestion helps a few people.

I agree - very good advice. Attitude is important. It reflects what we think about ourselves, not what we say or do.

Alex

Very true, Alex.

Hope all is well with you -- haven't seen you for a while.

I am ok, thank you. Head down working as much as possible.

Alex
