Why are you Here?
Why are you here? Are you here to build a business, make friends or even more?
I am certainly here to learn how to build a business and what it entails along with making friends as they can be a great help with building your business.
As I have been on the internet for many years, I thought I ought to learn how to use it to start a business and hopefully start making money as well.
I have been through all those get-rich-quick schemes and learned the hard way that the so-called gurus were making their money by selling me books that they had written. Few of them had any practical marketing experience other than with email. They didn't earn their money by doing anything on the internet but rather by telling you how they had built a business
Enter WA. A virtual university of knowledge on internet business building and marketing that business or if you want businesses. Why is that knowledge so great? Because it doesn't just rely on the principles teaching you but no indeed the whole community teaches you.
Through WA blogs we are learning how others overcome problems and also learning of the new concepts as they arrive.
So why did you join WA?

Hi Derek. I joined, much like you, after having been on the net for years. I started working with computers back in 1978 , on an old, very large IBM system, the reel to reel type. It was very slow, cumbersome and inefficient. But I loved it. So, after all these years it only seemed fitting to finally try and make an actual income from working online. Jim
Some of us remember the almost wind up computers of old Jim. Thank goodness there have been vast improvements in the technology to help us on our way.

I am here because I too, feel there's money to be made in internet marketing. I also, have tried or looked into many other programs and never succeeded except in spending too much money. I am confident that Wealthy Affiliate gives me the chance and the training, to accomplish what I have always wanted. Thanks for the article, Derek.
What am I doing here...?
I suppose I am here to glean as much information from fello online marketers as I possibly can. I just joined WA one month ago. I now have a website (created with the help of a professional web builder) that has just launched.
It is through my involvement reading posts here that awakened my senses. A website is never a "one-and-done" proposition. It requires regular maintenance and serious social media exposure.
I must admit though, my business in "affiliate" in nature because it is my own product line that I've been working on the past year. Taking on affiliates is something I am seriously considering. I am
not sure if it is a violation of WA protocols by making opportunities available in this space.
Feedback regarding this is greatly welcomed.
We are all here to build up our business Ken. If you want your own affiliates you will need a program that will run that for you.

I investigated this business 20 some years ago, spent a lot of money trying to figure it all out and gave up. WA has it all figured out for me. So I am on the path to success. Love all the blogs with useful wisdom.
I am here because I want to earn as much money as I can from being an affiliate marketer. When I joined WA, a few days ago, I didn't know what to expect, like most of WA members I guess. But, it was free, and it promised to teach me how to earn money from selling other people's products and services online, so I joined, obviously.
I am still learning about the platform and how it works, but I know enough already to make the decision to be an affiliate for WA and make it my first website. After all, if I am an affiliate for WA, it must help me learn the training and make that learning much more essential.
I enjoy reading everything people write on the platform and I am sure I shall learn much from them all. A large part of the learning process seems to include a lot of interaction and contact with other members, which I consider is a good way of making my commitment to achieving my goals stronger.
After a very short amount of time I have gone from not knowing whether I want to be here, or not, to knowing I want to be here more each day, and as I have not made any money yet, the reason must be because of all the offers of help and encouragement I have had from so many members showing me I should be here. So, I thank you all.

Interesting question Derek, it sparked my interest today, because I am wondering why I am here today.
I know why I joined - I wanted to learn something new and make a difference beyond my small community. I wanted to earn some money in the process.
I have learned a lot - right now my challenge is applying all this knowledge. Knowledge alone is worthless unless you learn to apply it for the betterment of mankind. Just thinking.

We all need to apply what we have been taught so far and then learn more as it is required.

I was low - tech and yet aware of the vast Online market of potential customers. I am still low - tech, but an managing a growing website. Wealthy Affiliate has made my transition into Online marketing much smoother.
