Slideshows
Hi all!
I am really trying to get a slideshow for my site. I've tried Slider Responsive Slideshow and I don't know if it's not working or it's me. It just lines up the pictures that I want vertically. Does anybody have any insight as to what I might be doing wrong or do you use a different plugin?
Any help would be greatfully appreciated!
Darlene

I thought that the advice was not to use a slideshow because of the negative effects they have on site speed?
It's largely affected by the number of slides you have. I find 5 load really fast but I do have one site with 15.
It's also important to optimize the slides and to make them all the same size.
I only use sliders on my e-commerce sites. If someone's going there to shop for a product, they'll wait a couple of seconds. Anyone who leaves immediately was never going to buy anything anyway.
Just checked my websites. I have another with 32 slides. And yes, it's a bit slow to load. I might give WP Rocket a go. US$49 per site though.
Wow, I had just 3 on a site of mine and it slowed to a crawl at times. Thanks for the salient points Phil, optimization here I come. Learning from an expert is always the best
I’ve given it a try and it will work on post preview but not the post itself. In the post it’s just a blank space. Could you give any advice as to what I’m doing wrong?
My humble thanks!
Darlene
It took me a bit of experimentation to get it displaying exactly how I wanted. I'll put a document together detailing it all and send it to you. Might take me a couple of days.
I've sent you the information as a PM. It doesn't address precisely what you're after as I show my slideshows only on the home page, not on blogs.
But hopefully you may get something out of it.

I didn't know slideshow could be done on the website. Thank you for the question
I’ve only seen it once when I was doing comment and the guy that did the post (I think it was a treadmill he was reviewing) he did a slider to look at it every which way. Dang!
