Hi David,
It's up to you, but in my opinion you are better off creating a .siterubix.com site instead of going straight to WordPress.
Because SiteRubix sites actually are WordPress sites, but there are no restrictions on promoting stuff like there are if you use WordPress.com directly. Not to mention it makes your life easier if you want to move it to your new paid domain with a Premium account down the road.
Can you please give more detail on the promotion restrictions that Wordpress has but Siterubix doesn't?
I have never used a free WordPress site (the ones they host for you) so I am not an expert on this. But from what I understand there are restrictions in place. I just found this post which may help you:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/
It doesn't seem to be too bad in the affiliate lining aspect, all things considered.
But I just prefer building one here because it makes it easier to move it if you decide to buy your own domain, and if you want the benefits of being a Premium member.

Why people have to buy from us (the affiliate marketer) while they can actually buy from the marketplace like Amazon, Ebay or AliExpress?
Go to the training David- It teaches you everything you need to know Online Entrepreneur Certification - Getting Started Level 1
Maybe you have helped answered their questions and doubts whether it is worth it to buy? Does the item provide the value which they are looking for from the amount of money they are going to spend on?
I think this can be the answer.
Correct me if I am wrong.
When someone is looking for an item they would rarely type into the search bar Amazon or eBay or AliExpress, they would type in a search phrase for what they are looking for.
It's then up to the Affiliate Marketer to write great content about that item so as to get on page 1 of Google and allow the searcher to click on your site and buy from you.
