I am focusing my niche in wearable technologies. I am contemplating using a .press domain name because the domain name I am considering has most extensions taken. What has anyon

I would only consider .com, .org, or .net in that order. As of this time, most other domain extensions do not rank well, unless you are considering country domain extensions in local markets.

Perfect. Catchy, and it's a .com.

Thanks Nathaniell. I went with the domain www.TedKnowsTech.com. Thoughts?

I see I'm a little late, but ...
.com is always the best for a business

I LOVE the name you chose!

Thanks gmegs! It just came to me. I suppose the best decisions are born of instant divine intervention!

I'll go along with that for sure !!!

I ended up going with www.TedKnowsTech.com

Thats an awesome name!!!! Congrats on this... ;o)

.com is always better and ranks better too. Have you thought about using your own name within the domain, create your own branding as it were?
Take a read of this, it should help. :)

Thank you Kathy!

Just What I needed! Thanks!

You're welcome and good luck! :)

.anything domains don't rank that well. If you want to get ranked, you will want to get a .com website (ideally), .org and .net domains can rank OK as well.

Other than this, you are going to be dealing with an uphill battle in terms of getting ranked in Google (and ranked well) and keeping rankings.

A .press domain name definitely will not rank too well.

Thank you Kyle! This is certainly a struggle because you want to have a catching website name but also want it to rank. It is frustrating to cycle through so many website names and see that they are "unavailable" but with no content posted to the website.

Find it funny, after I wrote this question, I googled .press domain and website traffic and found my question and post come up on page 1 of google! I guess I must have used some good keywords and didn't even know it :)

Hi, if .com, .net, .org, .info, and .biz are taken I usually like to choose .cc. This tld is some kind of "new .com" to me. But I guess, thats just my own preference (and I read about the .cc somewhere, that they rank quite well, if the content on the website is great of course).

I dont know anything about the new extensions like .press, .whatever and so on. I guess they are not as accepted among viewers as the established tlds.

Cheers, Kay

Thanks Kay, that helps!

I asked this a little while back, because I have a website with an .xyz extension. I was told that any website can have success, regardless of the extension, as long as the content was good, and you have followed the steps here to get traffic. I can't tell you for sure that's true, because I have had some issues as home and have not been able to get my site up and running yet. But people who have been here far longer than me have said it is all about the content!! Hope this helps.

Thank you!

I am thinking of focusing on wearable technology such as fitbits, Apple watches, GoPro cameras etc.

Wearable technology is too broad. Being really specific, choose an item you would Google.

Thanks! I thought it might be a bit broad...working on narrowing it down.

Cool...you're welcome! Let me know, if you need help!
