We have a new champion!
BREAKING NEWS FLASH!
Expat Mark, better know as "The Plugin Geek" reporting live from the home of well, Expat Mark.
In last nights late match, SMUSH rallied late to take the Image Optimizer World Championship belt from the upstart champ, The Kracken. As reported earlier by yours truly, The Kracken was released in early Summer and quickly became the champion in the ongoing Image Optimizer PlugIn War.
He easily outpointing The EWWW Image Optimizer to take the championship for the first time in a brutal battle. But he has not updated his game since.
Meanwhile the new challenger, SMUSH has trained hard. He improved his unbeaten record with a convincing TKO win by updating his game just 4 weeks ago. With this recent win, SMUSH has amassed a fan base of 1 million plus new fans who love their new 5 Star champion.
The Kracken, who took off from training for 4 months before the match lost much of his fan base. His fans quickly depleted to just 40K during the bloody brawl. Most of of them(415) are just 4.5 Star fans anyway. SMUSH's fan base of 5 Star fans numbered almost 4.5k! They clearly embraced their favorite and clearly outnumbered The Kracken fan base.
Many Kracken fans showed their fair-weathered selves and jumped to SMUSH's ship! Many were seen opening rooting for the new champ, SMUSH!
"Down with Kracken! Down with Kracken! " was shouted by a roaring crowd of highly entertained entrepreneurs who were admitted free. Many came for the free beer it was rumored, but not confirmed. At least not by this non-biased reporter. Burp!
For the sake of all us PlugIn fight fans, let's just hope the new champ can last longer than The Kracken.
And as this reporter always says regarding the ongoing Plugin War.
"Why can't we all just get along?"
RIP Kracken
Our new champ appears to play well with the other champions, and his Site Speed is fine with this new fan. But don't take this reporters word for it. Check your Site Speed after any new champ is crowned.
Reporting from the field. Burp!

Update: A fellow member ran some speed tests on SMUSH vs. Kracken and confirmed my results. SMUSH is the new man on the block. For now, that could change as a newbie Short Pixels is on the rise.

It was a great play by play event and we may have disagreed with the referees because we didn't get to see their scorecard.
Que?
That one went right over my head, I feel sure it is very helpful and full of pithy humour though. "Liked it" just in case I'm correct :-)
While I'm here, just thought I'd say, we used to have a lampshade like that ;-)
Cheers

I think based on comments there are more questions to be solved or explained about this battle royale.
Hmmm... What does that mean for the new website that is equipped with Kraken? Do we just uninstalled it and try SMUSH? Or do we stick with EWWW Image Optimizer?

Hey Expat Mark, Long before I found your post here, on May 23rd 2020, I installed the free version of Shortpixel plugin on my site. The free version allows one to optimize up to 100 images per month, so I optimized the first 100 of my 400-plus images on my site.
Before I installed Shortpixel, I ran a Google Page Speed Insights test on my website. My website ranked very high at 92 out of 100.
However, after installing Shortpixel and optimizing the 100 images, I again ran a Page Speed test. My site had dropped to 56 from 92!
I did a basic optimization of five of my sites images with Photoshop. After that, I then disabled Shortpixel and ran another Page Speed test again. This time my sites Page Speed went back up to 94.
So now I’m not running any image optimizers, and definitely not Shortpixel.
Cheers (burp)
