A sad day but a happy day

Today was the hardest day I have had to endure in many years. I have cried and laughed so much today. Today my best friend in the world crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Little Pumpkin would fit in the palm or my hand when I first met the furry little girl with the sweetest face I had ever seen on a dog.

I have cried all day because I miss her so much already. I have laughed so much today because I remember all the antics, laughs, and sheer joy she brought me for 13 years. Anyone who has ever owned a Pomeranian knows what little cut-ups they are.

I got Pumpkin on Halloween(hence the name) for my wife, I had just purchased a black and white Maine Coon Cat and a new house, and now we had our first two black fur babies. The two grew up together and were inseperable. A 25 pound and 47 inch long panther and the 4 pound bundle of fur and bark.

Pomeranians are very intelligent, loyal, and feisty little dogs. They are perfect companions as they are always eager to please and have the sweetest temperament of any dog species. They tend to form extremely strong bonds with one person in a household, but are friendly to all.

Little Pumpkin formed her bond with me.

She couldn't have cared less if my wife was in the room. Or the house. Oh well. Our first fight. lol She followed me everywhere I went and freaking loved to get in the shower with me. Thank goodness for that because Poms are not the easiest dogs to bathe with their thick coats.

The two of them made me laugh so hard so many times during their lives. They both loved the snow and watching them chase each other through the snow was side-splitting funny. When she was very young she would teeter-totter when she ate her food. Her head would go into the bowl and her back lets would come off the ground just like a teeter-totter.

I raised German Shepherds for the Memphis Police Department years ago and they still are my favorite big dog breed. Pomeranians are my favorite small dog breed by a country mile. I will never not have a Pom in my house. I am going to give me girlfriend one for Christmas.

For those of us who do not have children, our pets ARE our children. They ask so little and give us so much. They don't care if we are having a bad day or not. They will be there regardless. They enrich our lives and losing them hurts so, so much. I am sure her and Bubba the Coon Cat are making everyone laugh and cry over the Rainbow Bridge.

Bubba, the Maine Coon Cat was a Grand Champion and he is another story altogether. You will have to wait on the story of Bubba, the Dog Chaser.

I will miss you Little Pumpkin. I will see you in about 42 years.

Sorry for your loss

Sorry to hear about little Pumpkin. It's hard to lose our best buddies. They are family and it's very sad when it's their time to go over the rainbow bridge.

Right there with you, Mark. Just lost our last fur baby (redhead) three weeks ago today. Lost the other a couple of years ago. It gets harder every time. Both are in the picture.

They are our kids, our best friends, they love unconditionally, greet you like a long lost friend and you've only been gone 20 minutes.

They will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Remember,

Wayne

Mark, I am very sorry. It is very hard to lose a pet even when you do have children because they are still like a child. At least we get to keep the memories when they leave us.

p.s. On the positive side, I enjoyed getting to see a picture of whom I presume is you even if it is a younger version of you.

It is always nice to have a face to go with the name/profile.

So sorry to hear your news.. I feel your sadness.. I lost my fur baby a year ago and still cry about it now. He’s buried under a Victoria plum tree in my garden. We had an amazing crop of plums this year. I miss him every day.

Wow. Sorry for your loss bro.
Much love

Your pet kiwi., :)
