I'm picking a theme for my first site. Do I start with the free version or go to pro right away? Is it easy to upgrade to the paid version after you've been working with free version for a while? Will it have a major impact on the work I've already done?

I'd really appreciate any suggestion and/or experiences you have had! Thanks!

I'm working with the free version and it is complicated enough...LOL

Seriously, for my first site I am working with the free version and it seems to be fine. I will upgrade at a later date. Upgrading is no big deal and it has no effect on your previous work. You just have some extra perks, that's the biggest difference.

I am also working with several other sites that offer images too. They were recommended by WA experts and I am getting a lot of mileage from them.

If you need help with your images, just yell..I have some great sites you can check out!!!

I got these and more from the wonderful support family here at WA. I had more, but these were my top pics, I believe.

Always be careful to check on copyright status..you don't want the Google or Cyber police to come after you...LOL!!!

I would try out the free version to make sure it's what I want before getting the pro version. You can try several free themes first to make sure you're happy.

I have a paid version. It gave me more flexibility with what I was trying to accomplish. $69 for one seat licence and $39 renewal for support and upgrades each year. Free is okay, but if you want all the bells ans whistles, premium is the way to go.

Suzanne, It boils down to personal preference. If you have the extra cash, the paid versions are almost always better than the free version. Plus they can be customized more and the theme authors will help you debug if you experience any problems.
Jay (WA Live Video Man) prefers paid over free. If you intend to grow your online presence with multiple websites in the future, It may be cost effective to purchase the multiple licenses instead of just a license for one site.

Thanks Ken! I'm leaning towards the pro version with multiple licenses. I just don't know if I'm getting ahead of myself or not.

Pick a theme that you like very much, as it will be the theme that you will have from now on. Some themes allow you to choose a different child theme on top of the WordPress engine, as in StudioPress. So you could have the same Wordpress but with different themes showcasing each niche in a different way.
Good luck with your choices. There are many to choose from.

I just checked out StudioPress...thanks for the suggestion! Since they are not available in SiteBuilder, is it easy to link it to the domain I purchased thru WA?

Have you ever worked with SKT Themes or ThemeGrill?

Yes, any premium theme you purchase you will be given a download of the theme, as a zip file. You will just upload this zip file to your website dashboard >> appearance tab.
I am not familiar with SKT themes or Themegrill. I have worked with MyThemeShop, StudioPress, and Ionic One. I know you will be very happy you did.

Hey Roger! Many of the free themes have the option to go pro. The pro version is usually faster and has more options.
