Hi, I've had my site up for quite awhile now, and haven't yet purchased my own domain. Now that I'm about to do it, I was wondering how deep in the weeds I'm in concerning existing links directing to my site. Will they be redirected to the new domain, or will I need to do some heavy lifting?
Thanks for your responses.

If you are hosting your site at WA, the transfer process will automatically take care of the redirection. You should not need to use any plugins or do anything else. WA hosting takes care of it.

IMPORTANT make sure you do not delete your Siterubix site for at least 3 - 4 months. Leave it on the list. You won't be able to login to it or use it, as technically the site no longer exists after you transfer to the new domain. But the siterubix link needs to be in the system for a little while to ensure that the redirection works properly until all of your content for new domain is indexed.

If you delete the siterubix site from WA after the transfer and before the content is fully indexed under your new domain, then, yes, as IMc says, in that case you would need to use a redirection plugin.

Aha, thank you Jude! I'll make sure to keep it floating around for awhile to avoid that.

First check which pages on your current Siterubix site are already indexed by Google.
In the Google search box type:
site:yoursiterubix.com

That will tell you all the pages from your current site that will need redirecting.

Once you've followed the instructions to point the site rubix site to the new domain. Then use a redirection plugin to do '301' redirects to tell Google the old pages have moved.

Okay, sounds like a plan. I'll give that a shot. I'm just relieved that it's relatively that simple. Thank you! Only thing (and it may be a dumb question), a plugin for the redirect where, Wordpress?

Yes. In wordpress. There are various plugins you could use. One simply called 'Redirection' has been around for years - https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/
