My previous questions in this regard returned answers to the effect that I have to wait a few months more to see any results when I do a page rank search.

However, it appears that my site is Not Indexed by Google, Bing and Yahoo up to this point after almost 2 months. Is that normal ??

I did some online research an found sites where I can do it all myself manually..... submit my site for indexing, etc. I was under the impression that it was all done automatically through WA. Maybe I was wrong ?

My question now is this : Is it advisable to go this route and do extra things outside of WA to get my site indexed, OR did I miss some critical steps somewhere along the way ?

I will appreciate your comments, because I also would like to "get on the board" like other WA members.

Theuns.

Feedback on earlier question : Site Index:
* Activated the sitemap thingy
* Now busy with webmaster tools, and got as far as entering new site url and was told to download the given HTML verification file and then upload it to my site.
Question : How do I upload that verification code to my site ?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Sophie,
Thank you very much indeed. I have followed the steps in the video and although my WP pages sometimes look slightly different to those shown, I have followed the steps and submitted it to Google.
Now I wait to see what happens.
Once again, many thanks for your help and guidance. It is highly appreciated.

Awesome - no reason why it shouldn't work - WP has changed versions since the video as they are always updating which may be why your pages look different. The video is 3.9.1 I'm using 4.1.2 - might be the reason if yours is higher than 3.9.1! I'm just muddling through Adsense at the moment - it's a steep learning curve in some areas!

If for some reason it doesn't work, follow Kyle's training: You can submit the sitemap, if you wish, after your Webmaster Tools account is verified, as per the link Sophie has provided.

Thanks Jude.
I have tried to follow every step provided to me, including Kyle's video.
I still seem to have a problem though with the "verification" aspect.
I dont quite know how to do this verification thing correct. :(
And I sometimes get a message telling me to proove I am the owner of the site.
However, I will keep on trying and see what comes out in the wash.

This might help - the key is in the All in One SEO plugin:

Do you have the sitemap feature in the All in One SEO Plugin activated? You have to actually turn it on. Go to Features > Sitemap and make sure it is activated.

After you have done the above, go to your Google Webmaster Account and submit 3 of your best posts for indexing.

Here's Nathaniell's training: Your site should then be indexed within a day or two at the most. In the WA Site Manager, right under the Last Updated date you should see Google Index: Yes.

If this doesn't happen, then post here again.

Hi Jude,
Thank you very much for your response and the good advice. I will follow your guidelines and get myself sorted out.
I just found it strange that my siterubix website is indexed without any of these things, so I thought I had done something wrong.
Once again, many thanks for your help and support !!

This might help. Make sure you enter the right code in the All in One SEO plugin as explained here:

WA itself wont get you indexed. It is just hosting and training. There are a number of things you can do to get indexed. Have you associated your website with google analytics and webmaster tools? Have you submitted a sitemap? Have you shared your content socially?

Hi and thank you very much for your response.
As I told Jude (below), it was just strange to me that my siterubix website got indexed without me doing anything "extra", so I have (wrongly ?) assumed it did not require anything more from me.
However, I now realise what more I have to do, and I will follow your advice and guidelines.
Many thanks for your personal intervention. Much appreciated.
