Hello everyone,

I am trying to add a background image to my website as there is too much white space in my opinion. The i age is added in customise but does not show up on the website, any ideas why or advice please?

have you tried refreshing your browser when visiting your site with ctrl+f5 to bypass hte browsers cache and refresh the page.
or use a new privacy window.
i am finding that with the ada act in america starting to make inroads into websites - it appears that most offline stores have enough compliance for them to turn their attention to websites.- then you have to comply with a certain contrast ratio of your text - and other bits - so just make sure that any background does not detract from the contrast ratio.
good luck finding it

Yes I did refresh...and asked someone else to check it but they couldn’t see anything either.
The rest of your reply went right over my head.
Lol

Thank you Phil. Hope you’re well, good to hear from you.

I am thinking the theme doesn’t support a background image.

It is good to see you around as well Louise
have you visited the themes docs?
if not then have a look here
https://docs.blossomthemes.com/docs/blossom-pin/
just check it is the right size and format - and not too large to slow your site down
browsers nowaday are after you getting sites shown as quick as poss - so are storing previously visited sites - brilliant if you go back to a site and want it shown quickly - but if you are a developer and want to change a site, then when revisiting you get shown the old stored site ( cached)
so now ot refresh your page if you press the ctrl button and tap the F5 buton you will bypass the browsers cached site and see the 'live' site. one to remember when changing your site.
but if ohers are not seeing it then as you say maybe the image has not been updated - what you see in customize should be what you see on the screen after you press publish.
but have a read through the docs and see if they do something different
good luck

Thank you for explaining it Phil, it makes more sense now and I will take a look in the theme documents.
Much appreciated.

The ada act in the U.S. is for people with disabilities (for one). If your sight is not very good, the contrast between the words and the background could make if VERY difficult for seeing impaired people to read. That is why most do not use a background picture. That and the fact it will slow your website down and Google will ding you for that.

All the best!

Hey Louise,

All things to do with a WordPress theme (or a plugin, for that matter) needs to be directed to the developer.

You could try Google searching to see if this question was poised to the developer and answered previously.

Example: let's say you are that the name of your theme is TwentyTwenty, then you might simple Google search "TwentyTwenty theme - add color to background" (without the quotation marks, of course.

Hope you find this helpful.

I will try that , but in the past I have not found answers to specific things in a way that I can understand how to fix it.
I’ll keep trying

My advice to you is keep it simple, very simple. People like things very simple, clarity, otherwise they bypass all the junk in emails or ads. That is what I want, everything is simple.

Yes I agree, just wanted to add some light colour instead of having a lot of white space
Thankyou

I think it also depends on your theme. It may have failed to load the required image.
