I want to know which is the best WordPress theme for a website being made for an organization of over a million members. Or at least for a huge club or business. It must support/enable chat, discussion boards, blogs, eCommerce, and literally everything that people need to do online.

Should i go beyond WordPress and try Wix or SquareSpace or any other Website Builder?

You will probably receive many answers Aparna, all of them subjective, including this one.

You would be very lucky (IMHO), if you were able to buy a site with all that functionality off the shelf.
Definitely not from Wix anyway. Squarespace, I am not so sure about and the same for WordPress

Although these days some of the better premium themes will come close. One WordPress theme here.https://mythemeshop.com/themes/startup/

The problem as I see it, is most themes will have most of the functions you want, but not all.
So you may need to submit your specifications to a couple website creators and get quotes
Regards,
Michael.

Yes, I understand that greensail. Thanks so much. The startup theme looks good and is not expensive too. It, however, doesn't seem to support many membership elements.

When you say Startup Theme, are you referring to GeneratePress? If yes, then that’s because you need to install plugins to add the functionality, such as MemberPress and WooCommerce.

Do not choose a theme based on functions. You choose a theme based on appearance. You then choose plugins to add your functionality/elements.

Apologies, just read Michaels message again, and they have referred to a theme called Startup. My previous message still stands though, about choosing themes and plugins.

As the others have said, I would go for GeneratePress as the theme, then also add the GP Premium Plugin, as well as all of the other plugins that you need, such as MemberPress, WooCommerce, and either bbPress or WPForo etc.

I got the GP theme.
I couldn't find the MemberPress plugin but got the one in the screenshot. Is that the same, Chrystopher?

No, that’s not the right one, you have to purchase premium plugins directly from the developers website :-)

The WA plugin tab, I think, allows us to add free plugins. However, how do we buy paid plugins which are not available in the WordPress admin area? Plugins like MemberPress and LearnDash don't seem to be available within WordPress when accessed from the WA WordPress admin area. Any idea about this Abie? Or am I understanding it wrong?

Hey Aparna,

Tim has already mentioned how awesome GeneratePress truly is (I LOVE that theme!), and I'd like to add there is another developer's themes you may want to check out too, before making a final decision. Good quality themes that do NOT need page builders are rare indeed.

Hope you find this helpful.
