To use it in sumome, you will have to be a pro member, cannot be used if your using the free version, the best is going to widget > choose a text > you will see it on your left, drag in to the right into the side bar and place it right on top, When you click the text box it opens up, place your code in there, write something as the heading , save it...

The email subscription I chose says to put it in all the pages I want it to work in. With that in mind, I put it in the header.php file under the <head> tag. However, I'm reading about script being in the top portion of content, so now I'm not so sure. I've been putting things in the footer.php file now, above the </body> tag. Not sure if it makes a difference. However, every page that has a header or footer (depending on where I stick the script) would see the popup.

You have to click on the text tab inside wp editor, find the place you want to put the code, and paste it in. Make sure it is on its own line, and doesnt bump up against any other line of code.

There is a place to do that in SumoMe plug-in that allows you to connect to MailChimp.

Oh Geez, MailChimp integration is a paid feature. You find it under the List Builder, and then Services. I didn't realize that when I answered initially. My bad.
