I just came back from Udemy. I was looking for a course on WordPress Block Editor. A preview with the author of the course stated that WP Classic Editor would not be supported after the end of the year, and quite possibly the Classic Editor may not work at some point.

Two questions 1) Is that correct, both points? 2) I have over 50 articles using the Classic Editor if that is correct what is the handling? Can the old articles be converted to the new Block Editor easily?

You can install the block editor
(gutenberg) and activate even with the classic editor being active.

The classic editor support ends at the of this year. It will still work but no updates or support.

You can delete the claasic editor plugin At anytime and any post's you have will be fine.

However if you wamt to make any updates to thoses ppsts you simply switch the post to the block editor.

Thank you for your quick reply. So I take it that I deactivate the Classic Editor plugin and install the Block Editor plugin? If that is correct will the old articles look the same as with the Classic Editor?

Thank you, Marion

I saved your reply so I can refer to it. I read your post's comments and I feel a little better knowing that I got the Classic Editor down and the folks at WP threw a monkey wrench into my certainty, and some folks are hating having to unlearn and relearn grrrrrrrr!. Oh well, that's the way the pickle squirts!! I'm glad I am not the only one.
