Hi,

What is the advantage of having a Blog Roll on my site, as opposed to having a Menu with categories and drop-downs for all articles that I write?

Just trying to figure out why the Blog tab is used by so many people instead of making a Menu with categories.

Thanks.

Now, the next question. How do I add a blog roll to my Top Menu so that each and every post comes into it automatically? I tried what Shane suggested in the video link sent by AbieAJ. My Theme doesn't show the "Template" choosing option. So I can't set it to blog. And therefore what appears on my website is a page called Blog with nothing in it! There must be another way of doing it?

I know if I search hard enough, I will find the answer up there in previous questions, but then what's the fun of being in a community! :)

We gotta chat chat chat. Nevertheless, Sorry for these questions. Gulp!

Adding Categories to your Menu is covered in the post I shared earlier, but here it is again :-)

Pretty much as the others have mentioned, in regards to evergreen content etc.

Also. typically, menu's were only really used with Pages, and not with Posts.

However, I would not add more that 5-10 pages/posts per menu dropdown, as they will just become too long, and they will shoot off the bottom of the page.

I discuss this here in the following post

Hi Aparna
A good question. My take on this is that where you have more evergreen content you will want your customers to find your content easily through a menu and categories. When you are producing regular content that is less evergreen then a blog roll is more relevant. You can of course and probably should use both.
I am sure there will be more expert responses to this question (I hope so anyway)
Best regards
Andy
