I've been working with this theme "Genesis" and just figured out how to add a custom logo in the header section.. However, when I insert a custom header logo, it displays right on top of the generic website title..it seems the only way to fix this is to actually go in and remove the website title from the customization settings.

I just never actually deleted the website title section and wasn't sure if that would be okay or if it'd have a negative effect on my website???

I think it's fine because you are not trying to rank for your title. There's probably an easy code for it as well, so it might be worth asking in a genesis forum or getting someone on odesk.

Thanks Nathaniell... that's what I was thinking.. but I wasn't sure. I've scoured the Genesis forum looking for answers before posting this, but couldn't find anything.. so maybe I will ask over there as well.

I have done it but as to whether it affects SEO I don't know. Would like to find out.

Nathaniell and Jay work quite a bit with Genesis I think. May be worth a PM to them if they don't see this post. I use Genesis, too, but have never figured this part out on the 11-40 theme.

Hey Rick, just wanted to let you know I figured it out with this tutorial:

http://www.carriedils.com/add-logo-genesis-theme/

If you're interested maybe you can make it work with your Genesis child theme too.

I am not sure but I think it is under header below the pictures just before save or update --it reads check box to remove the text or maybe the theme header ---I think you first remove it then come back and add yours --this a shot in the dark---

yeah I know what you are referring to.. unfortunately that is not an option with the theme I'm trying to use!

To modify the WP template is very very hard to do. You have to pick one that allows editing to the "section" you are targeting. I too struggled with modifying a template Logo section and failed badly. I am skilled in HTML code and still could not get the "look" I was going for and after consult with the WP guru's here I learned that it is wasted of time to try and make it happen. I found that writing and learning marketing techniques out weigh a "look" of a website. Truth be told when a person (from an search engine) lands on your page as long as the type isn't too small or bright they will read what you have written. Best of luck to you and I hope this helps -

Well I am not modifying the HTML code at all. I can get the "look" I want if I remove the website title from the sidebar settings... just wasn't sure if that would be okay.
