Hi guys. I was told by site support that I need to contact my theme provider to get this resolved: "Render-blocking resources" and "Unused Javascript and CSS", and in this case, you will need to get in touch with the theme provider as that will certainly help.

Does anybody know how to accomplish this? My theme is twentyseventeen by wordpress. There is no help support that I can find only community forums.

Hey Alyse,

If you are using a FREE WordPress theme, then you should be able to Google search to find their WordPress page with that theme... and there will be a way of contacting the developer.

Examples offered in screen prints below... though you MAY have to add "wp theme" to your search phrase. Let's say you are using Twenty Eleven theme...

If you are using a Premium WordPress theme than you should have been supplied with information on reaching out to their support staff.

To be able to add a ticket to the FREE WordPress theme support forums, you will need to create a WordPress dot org account and use the login to add any ticket to either the free WordPress themes or plugins developers.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi there and thank you for this detailed info... do you recommend I upgrade to the premium? I mean maybe my problem is that I can't operate on the free stuff anymore.

Hey Alyse,

There are lots of times that the free themes and plugins suffer issues and that is why there is a support forum for users to submit a ticket to the developer.

Try it. After all, what have you got to lose?

Having both Kraken and Smush is not going to achieve anything except conflicts.
Assuming Kraken is still alive.
Render blocking resources are third party links.. Photos / links from other pages, Affiliate links maybe?
Unused Javascript can be a bit tricky to remove.
I am not going to advise anything there, There are tutorials on the wordpress site about how to do it.
Nothing much to do with the theme though, Alyse

Regards,
Michael.

Alyse, Google Adsense is notorious for slowing your site down. I removed it from my website long ago. Personally it wasn’t worth it for me. Unless you have a lot of traffic, it’s not worth it. You can always add it later on when you have a lot of traffic.

Hi Alyse I'm not a Pro at this yet but maybe you should consider switching to Generate Press. If your like the theme you can up grade to get more features that will make your Website look great.

Or maybe upgrade to twenty seventeen Pro version.

I hope this helps.

I have found the ultimate solution to site speed and these issues. But it's not free 😔

Google nitropack it's incredible in this.

Also try putting all your tags in google tag manager and defer them loading till later on.

These are the two solutions to these issues that I've used with my website.

Good luck 🙂

Ok so if you search for google tag manager you will be sent to a google free product that you sign up to with your google account.

You will need to watch YouTube videos on how to set it up.

Basically one code on your site from google tag manager and all your analytics, tracking pixels, etc. Go in the google tag manager account.

Then since I use nitropack I put in the domains for adsense and analytics to load later. "Deferred".

External resources (from other domains) can be pre-loaded, asynchronously loaded (async), or deferred.

I only discovered this info over the past few months, just been reading a lot... like really a lot 🤣

Anyhow I can find you some articles if you still need more info about it.

Hope this summary helped though.

Good luck!
