How do you respond to an email from WordPress

"This message seems dangerous"

regarding someone who left a comment on my post. WP had a large warning in red. They said that it was possible phishing.

(I already replied to the comment they left on my website, before I saw the email from WordPress.)

Hi Carolyn,

It is unfortunate you saw the warning after you replied. Perhaps a mention to site support may be in order just as a safeguard.

Best wishes,
Michael

You can simply delete the comment that you don't want to keep on your site as well as the comment of your own.

Hey Carolyn,

You should NEVER respond to spam or phishing emails.

Here is a video to help you determine if what you received actually was issued from your WordPress website or not: Over the years, I have received many phishing emails and I report the ones that are made to look like they come from PayPal by forwarding these emails as attachments to PayPal's spoof email address.

Once you have determined proof positive that an email is phishing, then you can Google search "report phishing email to [business name goes here]" (without the quotation marks, of course). See screen print below.

Hope you find this helpful.

Usually, this means that a message has a link that looks suspicious (which you don't want to click on, of course), or the message has come from the suspicious website (email address).

If it is come from a suspicious website, it can potentially damage your ranking and SEO, since Google will associate your website as a backlink on that website and if it is practicing blackhat SEO, it can damage your ranking and you could be suffering penalty.

I usually delete such comments (mark them as spam), as they don't provide value to my content in most cases.

Since I already posted it... do I 'edit' or' quick edit'

Do I use 'unapprove', 'spam' or 'trash'?

Then how do I remove my reply?

I don't want to compromise the progress that I have made with my website.

I apologize for late reply. Yes, you want to unapprove and then trash it.

Thanks so much for stepping me through this process. I took care of it to the best of my knowledge at the time. Hopefully it won't come back to haunt me! LOL
I appreciate the help!
