Here's how I did it.
Go to appearance, click on menus/add menu (I just named mine footer but it doesn't matter), check off footer menu, select privacy policy from the list on the left, select add to menu, then save the menu. Wallah!

It's theme dependent but if you go to Appearance > Widgets you should see a Footer area on the right hand side. Just drag a suitable widget into it and link to your Privacy Policy. Rich.

Thank Rich - I can only see bottom 1,2,3 and 4

That probably means your theme divides up the footer into four segments, so as to allow small multiple drop down menus. Just drag a Text Widget into the first one and type something as a test to see the result. Rich.

In the footer widget area, drag and drop a "text" box widget. In the text area of the text box widget, type in a short html snippet that creates a link to your privacy policy. It will look like this:

Privacy Policy

Replace the URL above (http://mygreatwebsite.com/privacy-policy) with the URL of your privacy policy.

Save the information and if all goes correctly, you should now see a link to your privacy policy in your footer widget area.

I find "dumping" a lot of non-essential legal stuff as well as Contact Us, etc. in the footer is useful. It depends on what your theme supports, but if it has a footer area in Appearance > Widgets, then create a Custom Menu https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-custom-menus-in-wordpress for these items and then drag a Custom Menu widget into the footer area. Rich.

Nope I just cant get it. I have created a custom menu called footer, I have put privacy policy in there and added it , I have put that custom menu widget in footer area 1 and its still not there its listing all my site pages.

You need to select in the Custom Menu widget that you dragged to the footer area what you called the footer menu when you created it as a custom menu. :) Rich.

LOL. OK, when you drag the Custom Menu widget into your footer and open it up you need to select the name of the footer menu you created in "select menu". :) R.

woo hoo Thank you so much Rich...ok got it....and done. Understand now...
One more thing, my second puzzle of the day...Where can I find info on changing my comments boxes to captcha boxes

I don't really understand the question, "captcha" is a process of adding a security measure to comment boxes or contact forms to prevent spam, not a replacement for them. Rich.

Aw, OK, if you want to deter spambots, you could add something simple like GASP which means a tickbox has to be checked before a comment can be submitted http://wordpress.org/plugins/growmap-anti-spambot-plugin/

I was just told, to improve our sites we need SI CAPTCHA....I also have ASKIMET so do I need to switch

Nope. You can add "captcha" but a lot of people feel that it deters genuine commentators, GASP is a nice and simple option, all they have to do is tick a checkbox rather than type jumbled up letters and lose their comment if they get it wrong! You can use either GASP or SI CAPTCHA but I'd recommend using one in addition to Akismet. I think GASP http://wordpress.org/plugins/growmap-anti-spambot-plugin/ is probably the better solution. Rich.

If i have understood you, you want only the privacy page on your footer page widget. You can surely hide rest of the pages. On the Page widget you have an option called Exclude. You need to put the page number that you want to exclude. For the page number you go to Dashboard- all pages - click the page you don't want, look at the address bar, in the long string u will find a number(something like post=10),just put that number in the exclude box, if u have multiple pages separate them by a comma.,,Hope this will help you.. if you need further help feel free to ask me.

You could put a link in the footer to the privacy page called "Privacy Statement" and make sure the privacy page is excluded from the menu (tick box on the edit page).
