I have about 1300 images in my media file.

I exported them over from an old website so that they would be available to use.

Does haveing them sat in my media library have a neggative impact on my site speed?

The short answer is no and I see it's been well answered and elaborated on.

It doesn’t no, only the images on the pages/posts themselves

Hi Chrystopher. May I jump in and ask a related question, please?
Catherine's question related to images in her library that were not included in any posts on her WA website.
If all 1300 images were actually attached to posts then would the size of the library itself have an effect on site speed?
The reason I ask is that I saw an exchange within WA a few months ago where a few more experienced members seemed to be discussing hosting their media library elsewhere. Is that even possible and, if so, is it advisable to do so when your library reaches a certain size?

No, I don't, Catherine, sorry. I remember seeing it but was in the middle of something else at the time and then I forgot about it until you raised your question today.

The total number of images doesn’t impact page speed, only the number of images attached to posts/pages. WA use a cache and CDN network, so there’s no requirement to host images anywhere else. The only reason to host media else where is if you run out of hosting space at WA.

Thank you, Chrystopher, I couldn't have hoped for a clearer answer than that.
