Whenever I publish a post, it automatically enters into "recent posts".
When I edit post, so I can then tick the post to appear into "category", the post moves into category AND recent posts also. Messy!

I tried typing up my post on my dashboard instead of sitecontent and same thing occurs - the post attaches to a category automatically AND recent posts.
I UNTICK category and save - it automatically ticks categories again!!!
Please help.

From my experience, if you click a category, it should publish in the category and recent posts so it is working as designed. Having it in two places is actually a good thing from a reader’s perspective since it makes it easier to find.

Unless I don’t understand the question.

Thanks so much! So I do have it 2 places, sometimes three places because of recent posts.
Any ideas to get a post out of a category permanently?
Take care.

Well, I’m not sure since I haven’t started using categories yet. But you should at least be able to change categories if you placed the post in the wrong category.

It is good to have posts in more than one place, though, and not something to worry about.

does it drop out of recent posts when you have added more - so two or three more and it goes to one category - if so then it is down to your theme or a plugin
i wouldn't worry about it too much if it drops out after adding more articles.

Hey that's it! It does drop out of recent posts when more is added so essentially it eventually would land in the correct place but when when I untick category so I do not want it in category - the post automatically remains in category!
I use generate wordpress.
What plugin or theme is good to use to avoid this minor issue that causing calamaty?
Many thanks.

all of your posts need ot be assigned to a category - this is the way wordpress works
pages are not in categories -so if you don't want them assigned to a category then maybe create posts rather than pages
but this will create more work as they are not added to menus automatically - so you will need ot add them somewhere to allow your visitors to find them.
i you want to change your posts from posts to page then try post type switcher plugin
good luck
