How can I always have the 'Submit Comment' button always appear below the check boxes / options?

I use the default wordpress comment section.
+ use 2 plugins
1) Subscribe to Comments Reloaded
2) WP GDPR Compliance v1.4.2

I would like the plugin check boxes / options to appear above the 'Submit Comment' button. It just makes sense to have them above from a users' point of view in completing the form.

Now in testing these plugins I have had these check boxes/ options appear in different positions. Sometimes above, sometimes below. I just can't fathom how to get all of them to always be above the 'Submit Comment' button.

Many thanks in advance for your help :)

Hello, the position of the submit button has been there by default and may not be adjusted.

Hello, sincerely, this is only determined by the plugin/theme installed on your site. I would have recommended that you try out the CommentLuv plugin, but WA has set a different comment plugin by default for your site and that of other members within the WA platform.

Wish you much success in your online business!

Thanks Israel - As I said to Glen although I suspected as much I was hoping for another solution as I haven't managed to figure out how to do it via the plugins &/or theme.

I had looked at CommentLuv in my research for this type of thing but quickly discounted it as it hasn't been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress.

Best wishes to you to :)

In most cases this is going to be controlled by the theme or plugin that you are using. Unfortunately there isn't a simple way to do this. You will either need to override the CSS or have the plugin code changes to accomplish this.

The first place to check is to see if the plugin or theme has options that allow you to configure it differently. That would be the easiest.

Others that use your plugins might have insight to this as well.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Brigitte,

What is the site so I can look at the code and let you know if I can point you at how to use CSS to make the adjustment.

Hi Brigitte,

The CSS for this section has the following:

.form-submit {
text-align: right;
}

The problem with this is that if you changed just that in the style.css file it would change all instances of that class so the button would be centered even for non-comments.

The comments section is designated with the comment-respond class.

So if you added this to the CSS in style.css it would override the main for just comments and center the button

.comment-respond .form-submit {
text-align: center;
}

I have attached an image of what it looks like with the overidden CSS.

To Add this overridden CSS.. You will login to your WPAdmin. Go to appearance->customize.

Then you should see Additional CSS in the left hand menu.

Just paste this in the box:

.comment-respond .form-submit {
text-align: center;
}

That should do it. All of this is assuming that your theme will allow the additional CSS. If not we can still do it buy editing the style.css directly and adding the overridden CSS to it.

Hope this wasn't too complicated. It's easy for me but most people's eyes glaze over when I talk tech.

lol! Yes it took me a while to understand what you're saying with the CSS. My eyes normally do glaze over too.

Centering the button is not something I had thought of but it does look better sandwiched between the plugin checkboxes. I was hoping to have the checkboxes appear above the submit button.

I appreciate all your help Glen, so thank you very much :)
