Yes, it is possible that the transition will be seamless, but it is more likely that small things will be slightly different.

The advice below is sound, try it out on your siterubix domains first to see how much will be different and how much trouble it will be to fix.

Hey Lisa,

What I found easiest for me is to move a copy (by installing a backup copy) to the SiteRubix (free) server, and work on it there.

If you are uneasy about using a backup of your website that is hosted on WA, you could always ask SiteSupport to make you a cloned copy of your site so that you can work on it. This way, they will install a copy of your live site to the SiteRubix server for you.

Whenever you change themes, there are ALWAYS little tweaks that need to be done. By working on a cloned copy of your site, you won't have to worry if that site is not accessible for a short while.

Have found this to be the BEST method for me.

Hope you find this helpful.

As with Frank B, the only thing you might find is that certain parts of your page could be in diferent places to how you have them now.

However its easy to sort with GPP and very easy to do.

GPP was designed by a freelancer and should if you have tried different themes before, solve the problem

Gutenberg is so easy to use, its the default editor pretty much now and you won't want to rever to the classic editor once you have used it

Hi Lisa, the first thing which I am sure you will do is back up your site.
Switching From Omega to Generate press should not cause you any lay out problems. I have changed themes several times, and am running a generate press theme right now. I did not have to change anything with the layout.
As far as the block editor you can always switch to classic for different purposes. Personally I am still practicing with the block editor.
I do have a temp site, or as Frank suggested a staging copy. Site support will do it for you, on which you can play around with no worries.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hi Lisa,

You should be fine with Generatepress. If you are missing functionality then get the premium version. Backup first and maybe get a staging copy to see it you like it. I use it and really like it. You can use site content and classic WP editor, no problem.
Please try the block editor. VERY easy to learn and MUCH better than classic editor. You’ll never go back.😊
