Hi I have spent the past hour reducing image files in Krecken.

Can I do the same with other files, such as doanloadable content and Youtibe videos?

Use the link for the video so that it would not affect your post.

That is another option, you can take the thumbnail or screenshot and link that to YouTube. The only downside is that it takes them away from your website.

You can also use a plugin such as Lazyload, which (apart from lazyloading your images) will automatically convert YouTube links to screenshot links, which when clicked on, then show the video.

So your readers don't leave your website to view them.

That’s true yes, and as per my other comment below, it’s related to deferring (lazy loading) the iframe :-)

Yeah, I thought I'd include lazyloading, as I think some may be less familiar with the term iframe :)

For YouTube videos, you can defer the iframe from loading until it’s visible on the screen, same principle as deferring images.

My understanding is youtube videos are not actually a part of the weight on your site. They are actually third party and reside within youtube. I'd suggest asking Smartkateer. He has 23 years of experience.

I have dealt with Smartkateer a few times and he is truly awesome.
I learn so much from everyone here that it’s amazing! 😁

The videos themselves are hosted on YouTube, but the more YouTube links you have on the page, the slower your page loads, as it still needs to display each video on the page.

I use the Lazyload plugin to overcome this.
