Good News Folks Are Searching For Reviews Prior to Purchase

Do you wonder if people actually search for reviews of products prior to purchasing products and services? It appears that they do in increasing numbers so if you are in the review creation game then the news is all good.

The mantra that seems to roll off everyone's lips is ask Google and we do, the stats back it up.

It is amazing because it is across every demographic. Being in marketing………. I have this question that I slip into the conversation it has a few variations but generally it flows something like:

Why did you purchase the product and how did you come to that decision. People are in their droves

  • Researching online, seeking reviews
  • Looking for comparisons of different products their quality brand and price points to mention a few
  • Seeking peer reviews and advice from their social circle.
  • Looking for social proof.

A classic example my nephew was in the market to buy a lawn mower the whole process was conducted online. What a mower a Mexican manufactured American brand four wheel drive with traction control.

What

I didn’t even know there was such a thing what a mower it arrived in a box, helping out I put the thing together wow what a mower. I need me one of those things. Just one example but one repeated many times worldwide I am sure.

The question is why, from observation folks are just so busy getting on that we are all, if not rapidly becoming time poor. We still desire that experience, this may be a guy thing but it is easier to research online and have that feeling of being in control of the purchasing process. I think that it may be across the board and would really love to know. I suspect that girls still love that shopping experience.

The point is that we are becoming a society that researches for information and reviews prior-purchase it gives us the confidence that we are making the right decision it is a large group of people and as we all know there is so much comfort being part of a group.

It is a process that will continue to grow as does our ability to access information. For folks that are writing reviews and providing that information what an opportunity and time to be involved in a review based industry.

It can only go from strength to strength.

The ability to be successful definitely comes down to our ability to construct viable and relevant sales copy with that strategic call to action. So if I am not gaining traction then at least I know what to look at and what to work on, because the market is definitely there. Looking at those evergreen niches of health, wealth and relationships there almost seems to be an insatiable appetite, I know that it is not that simple, becoming aware gives us the opportunity to work on our shortcomings.

Creating web copy can be challenging at the best of times, getting engagement well that is another story altogether, infusing very good sales copy into our content creation may be the one thing that stops us in our tracks or guarantees success in our endeavors. Defined, the web copy provides the information or foundation, the sales copy is that text that asks the consumer to take a specific action there is a major difference.

Just a thought for the end of another successful week how do you see it?

This is a great post Evan, I tend to review anything before I purchase it. My husband even more than I, so reviews can definitely be leveraged for success.

It seems to be the way folks are going Theresa as online purchases become more normalised thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi Alexander,
Personally, I am a review fanatic when it comes to purchasing on and off line. I read as much as I can on a product before I make a decision to purchase or not. I agree that this is a perfect time for those in niche's involved in doing reviews.
Jerome

Hi, Jerome, it appears that you are now in the majority, many in fact like moving through the whole process online. So if we can put the correct language in front of the correct audience we should be able to make some good progress. Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks, Evan another great post. I have been thinking along these lines because of the line of health that I am in. it is not easy to promote good health just by posting pictures that are excellent chooses without giving the why and how to use them. I come across that in health sites a lot. Why leave a comment if you can't answer it.
I came across a site that was well organized and a lot of great information. But no direction in how to use them and the comment box empty.
But looking deeper I did find a comment and the Lady was very serious about wanting to change because she has very serious health issues and asking for help. The answer was. very good information.
Boy was I mad. I tried to find the person that put up the site I came to a dead end. The about page was a signup page for news letters. What a trap and people fall for these things.

long story short There's always a better way
Linda

The review process is a very satisfactory way to create success in the promotion game.
It can be frustrating to watch some folks, it sometimes shows you how much you actually know. knowing what is wrong or not so good having the knowledge to fix it priceless. Thank you for sharing your insights and like you say there is always a better way if we care to look for it.

Excellent, Alexander! I know personally I have come to research all of my purchases whether online or in store. The resources available at the touch of a key stroke are just so amazing. I agree with your point maybe it is somewhat of a man thing but I find myself researching the heck out of most prepurchases before I make up my mind. However, once I make up my mind I want the product NOW! Take care

Wayne

Classic Wayne , I think we are all heading that way, it is good to observe the various sales pitches.

You have found one of the many great answers!

Hi Mickey, good information and a good sales pitch will take us a long way. A work in progress.

Absolutely Alex. Marry that content to your audience need!

Some sound advice Mike, it is definitely a work in progress, but well worth the effort.

Thanks for sharing, Alexander.

Hi, Rodger, you are most welcome, thank you for stopping by.

i definitely see that I am personally shopping online more...or just researching before I buy. I want to make sure that what I spend my money on will fit my needs and the web is the best place to find other people's experiences (second only to a personal recommendation from a friend).

Hi Jenee, we all seem to be doing that looking before buying. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

Thank you for sharing this very interesting post.

You are most welcome Louisa, thank you for reading it is interesting how we are evolving with our use of the internet in making those purchasing decisions.
