A Case of its All About The Journey Disease

Thank goodness somebody filled a bucket of ice cold water and tipped it over my head

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr shake it off step back and have a think.

A cracking good way to cure “ its all about the journey disease “

By the looks of things somebody will of asked a question like what is affiliate marketing all about or why did you call your cat fluffy? Ah because he is fluffy.

At the end of the day it is all about presenting opportunities and making offers to potential customers or clients.

  • Customer, someone who buys a product from you or from the company that you are promoting
  • Client, somebody or an entity that buys a service from you or the company that you are promoting.

So glad that I have my head around that one, it is very hard to complicate something like that or for that matter overthink it. There is a process.

What it is all about, is getting into the head of of your ultimate client or customer. What makes them tick tock what are their desires and needs and most importantly why do they buy or not.

If they are not buying why are they not buying from you?

Who is your favorite customer?

You

Surprisingly as the folks in the know will tell us we all have a similar vested interest in the purchases we make ( another topic altogether ) but we do share common threads no matter where or how we live. Yes, No?

Before there are customers

Before there are customers there is the presentation “ the content “ how do we get inside their heads with the content and sales copy we produce. There is a way grasshoppers, given that we are basically all the same and are governed by a natural order that makes all this tick.

Some questions to ask:

  • What is important in life for them, what are their core values and how will the content you create help them to establish or reinforce those important things and values.
  • What do your readers dream about , where do they drift off to during the day or night.
  • Speaking of night what keeps them awake into the wee small hours.
  • After that restless night, what are your content consumers afraid of losing what are their concerns in general.
  • How do they make the decisions that they do regarding everything in their lives.
  • This is an interesting one, where do they turn to get the information to make those decisions. Who do they trust and who do they seek advice from, hopefully your website.
  • Passion and pain, what are their passion points and more importantly what are their pain points.

Just some thoughts you may be able to add to them or they may be enough to get you thinking.

So the next time you catch yourself talking about “ the journey “, stop and get on with the job. Providing content that meets the needs of your potential customers and clients.

Remember you are your best customer all you need to do is transfer that thinking into your content creation.

Adding the odd call to action helps as well.

Great post, Alexander. Identify the problem, give the solution and how to get there....then bring it home with a great CTA! Then, you can either sit back and reflect on the journey, or move on to the next project. Always great to read your posts!
