Hi everyone,

I was editing a post via the block editor earlier. As I came back and edit again, this error came up (see below- "This block contains unexpected or invalid c

Yes, I had that happen when updating a post that had been created using the visual editor.

The problem was related to screenshots within the post. My only reason for persevering with the block editor for that update was due to the H2 and H3 titles wrapping around the screenshots when published. Eventually, the block editor was the answer to that problem.

Hi Valerie,

That's good to know. I can see why it may have been related to the screenshots. That's odd, but it's a good learning lesson.

I know the block editor is a great solution. Thank you for sharing your input- it's greatly appreciated.

Best,

-Eric

You're welcome, Eric.
And thanks so much for your response.

Valerie

Yeah that's come up for me every once in a while. I've found that even when it's showing that error it doesn't affect how that block looks in the published post.

Hi Eric,

I see, but that's good to know. Thanks for your input :)

All the best,

-Eric

Hey Eric,

Sure have!

And, it is whenever I have not used THEIR new locations for HTML tags that causes this error.

Try clicking on those those 3 dots and see if your option is to LEAVE as HTML or something like that. See screen print below...

Some of my HTML blocks WordPress still insists on trying to convert them to their silly new Block editor.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Trish,

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I never had that issue before.

I've used the block editor for a year and a half now, and haven't had that until now. I'll look into it and check it out- I'm sure it'll be fine.

Hopefully it won't persist- but I'll see what happens.

Thanks for sharing :)

Regards,

-Eric

Hi,

Thank you for that resource. That'll come in handy.

I'll look it over and see what happens. But that helps- thank you for sharing :)

You're very welcome!

Hi,

Thank you very much for sharing those resources. I’ll check them out and see how it goes with the product reviews.

Thanks again :)

You're very welcome Eric.

I'm following this too, Eric!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff.

Yes, I've received some great suggestions. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it in regards to writing product reviews.

Best success on those endeavors, Eric!

Hey Eric,

If this helps you, I use Yet Another Stars Rating by Dario Curvino

Hope you find this helpful.

This looks nice, Eric.
I want to know if it's lightweight; thank you.

Hey Muslimah,

I'm not Eric but will respond if you won't be offended.

I recommend that if you have any doubts about a plugin (or even a theme), simply install it on a temporary or test website that you can create using the SiteRubix server.

When creating a test site, be sure to go to Settings > Reading > and be sure to check mark "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" because you don't want search engines to index your test site.

This way you won't be effecting your live site in any way.

Hope you find this helpful.

Jay said in last night video That the "Headers & Footers Plugin could be used with GeneratePress Basic. Do you agree?

Hey Edward,

I've found the Headers & Footers Plugin to be very useful on several different themes now... basic and premium. So, I would say yes to this plugin working on GeneratePress Basic too... though I use the GP premium theme.

Hi Trish,

It looks like a great plugin. I'll check it out and test it out for some of my product reviews.

Thank you for the suggestion :)

All the best,

Eric

Sorry for the mixup, Trish (did I get it this time?).
Thank you for the guide; I will check it out.

It is truly really basic. All you get are stars... which is what I prefer.

No need of being sorry Muslimah, there's no problem.

If you simply made a boo-boo on my name, that's okay, as I wasn't certain.

Like I told another member, you can call me anything you want to, just don't call me too late for meals. ;-)

Over the years we have seen product review plugins come and go. Therefore we create our own layout to use.

Hi,

Yes, I agree with you on that point. Not all plugins last forever; while for other plugins, the value of the product goes down over time.

I liked using the old plugin for SEO purposes. It helps, but no guarantees it'll be a win-win situation for my website.

That's good that you go with your own layout and stick to being original. I may go down that direction at some point.

Thank you for your response- it's much appreciated :)

Regards,

Eric

That's interesting to know.
But how? will like to know more.

We decide what my subheadings are and what things we want to cover. And use the same thing over and over but use different products.

Good Question, would like to know also.

Hi Edward,

Yes, I'm eager to know as well. I know I'll get great suggestions and decide on one that works best for my website.

Thanks- all the best,

Eric

General question- For those who have been around for some time:

Besides the "make money online" niche, were you satisfied with your first niche site? If not, do you reg

I don't think I regret any niches I have made sites on. A couple months or so ago I axed all of my older sites even some getting hundreds of visitors per day and also axed a membership site with 1,500 members. Was just tired of the sites. Lost interest long ago. Hadn't worked on them in many years.

And here at WA I have two niche sites in fitness. I don't dislike them or regret starting them. Just have little interest in working on them.

Have a blog too but I haven't updated that for at least a few weeks now. I like the blog. Just haven't had anything I felt was worth the time writing about. I will soon though.

Been working a lot past months to find a true passion niche. And I think I finally have that based around my programming experience, skills and enjoyment of creating. So I will start a new site soonish around this.

Thanks for your feedback!

Too bad you lost interest in those older sites. It sounded like things were going well (traffic & visitors). But I understand.

Sometimes, it's hard to figure what you're genuinely passionate about. I just thought that should be the easiest route for most people, but that's not always the case. It's easier for some, while others need to do more brainstorming. I'm like that every once and awhile.

Thanks again- all the best on your future site!

-Eric

It's also a case of interests change over time. Some things I was very interested in at one time I am not as interested in now. That was the case with those old projects. I made my first niche authority site in 2004.

Thanks! For the next site I am going with something I've been into for the past almost 40 years.

Hey Eric,

I love my scuba dive site.

I have another site on "make money". I really like both. The "make money" is more challenging for me and that's what I enjoy.

My dive site is really my passion and sadly I stopped working on it because I wasn't able to focus on 2 sites. I'm still making some money on my dive site on Amazon. Every now and then, Amazon will give me a cheque of a little over $100.

I have absolutely no regrets on my scuba dive site. I hope and pray I will be able to get back to my dive site... while still maintaining my "make money" site. I just need to get better organized and sort out my personal life challenges with family business.

Great question... thank you.

Monica

Thanks, Monica,

Yeah, that makes sense. It's not easy doing more than one website at a time. I currently have two websites- more focused on one over the other. But I still manage to put the time in each week to post content on both sites.

Good to know you don't have any regrets over your scuba diving site. Hopefully, you can get back into it if you're passionate about it.

Thanks for sharing!

-Eric

Thanks, Michael,

I'm glad to hear about that. Your niche is in health- is it health in general, or is it something more specific? Just curious since health is a very saturated niche.

Nope, my first couple niches didn't work out but I have zero regrets. At the time I wish I would have done it differently, but looking back now I wouldn't change anything. I learned a lot and those were important experiences.

Thanks, Jay,

That's good to know. I kind of feel that way. I've been at WA for six months, and there are small things I would've done differently now than when I first started out. Maybe a little bit less work along the way, but I feel better about it now than back then.

Yes, those learning experiences can be very valuable. I totally agree with that part.

I agree. I've made more mistakes than I can count but they had to be made. I'm glad they're behind me and not still in front of me, lol.
