Hi, how many articles is enough on a small niche site to make it profitable?
It's not necessarily based on the number of articles, although I understand it's between 30 and 40 or in other words, around the six-month mark, but on the quality of them, and if they are being ranked highly by Google. Posting regularly is the key, it's a never-ending process really.
More than 50...but it depends on quality and engagement of readers...some have started earning on less, and others only after over 100 written.
A small niche site requires as much as other niche sites to get noticed to start earning.
It takes Google at least 6 months with at least 45-50 articles to notice a site.
But then once you get noticed, you still have to keep creating content to keep getting noticed to stay profitable.

Please don't get stuck in the same rut in your thinking that I did. Somehow I had the thinking that I should keep my website under 100 posts in total, and I was sooooo wrong.
The more regularly you post the better opportunity you have to profit. If your competition posts monthly, then you need to post weekly... AND, you need to share unique, quality content so that your bounce rate remains low.

How long articles do you use and have the best experience with? how many words, 1000? Personally, I like to read short articles. I see some of the ones I have commented on have long, while others a little shorter.
Nope... in fact posting all 40 at once COULD work against you as it could look like "canned content".

Personally, I write until my topic is exhausted.
Some of my posts are only just over 800 words while others I've written are over 4500 words. The longer post, I added jump links too after the first 4 or 5 paragraphs, of course.
Short posts are no longer desired by Google... depending on the topic in question, of course. If you are offering computer tips, or website design trouble shooting tips, you might get away with a 350 word post... "might" being the keyword here.

Okay, yes - I have written about a topic I have some knowledge about, and then the problem is that the articles may be too long (I resolved to split them into several pages of 5000 words each and divided it into different steps 1 -2 3 etc) I suppose each article should not be very much longer? These are preliminary drafts and not published. However, I am going to write a summary with the main points. It doesn't matter, however, to publish everything? (so can those who want to read more in detail do so)
But if we are to think of an absolute general minimum, then the article should be over 800 words?
When I suggested not publishing all 40 posts at once, I did not know that each one was a continuation from another post.
Sounds like you should use this content to publish a Kindle book and gain an audience to your website that way. WOW!
As for what you actually choose to do with your content is strictly up to you. Only advice is offered here... I try to NEVER tell people what they should do but rather make suggestions and let them decide for themselves.
It seems that many members here are convinced that we need our posts to be over 1,000 words. I have attended SEO webinars tended by "experts" who claim we now need 2,000 words, but I still only write until I've run out of information to share.
If I didn't do it that way, I might end up adding useless fluff to my posts and I would never want to do that.

I now understand that QSR should be less than 100, and AVG higher than 100.
How about SEO, what should it be? I see there is variation from 80 to 100.

Ideally your QSR should be under 100 but try for under 50.
Your traffic should be over a 100 and your SEO in the late 80's abut try for the 90's.
I personally like to get my QSR down to 10 or under and I have a lot of success.

The seminar I saw live yesterday said that had to be less than 100 on QSR and greater than 100 on AVG. But of course it is possible I have misunderstood something :)

You can actually have up to 5 good secondary keywords.
No more than that though as you could be accused of Keyword Stuffing.

On the webinar with Ray yesterday, he came up with the keyword "Legitimate Work from Home Jobs with No Startup Fee"
It has an AVG 145, and traffic 25 in Jaaxy
According to him, this was a good keyword. But traffic is only 25 here, so now I get a little confused. Is he wrong? or do I misunderstand you? or more things to look into maybe. Will look through your links,thanks a lot for all help. Im quite new to this :)
There are many keywords you can use for long term results.
Some of them will also be good for ranking and they will attract a small amount of traffic.
You must also remember that search terms change all the time so what was a great keyword last week doesn't mean it will be this weekl or next month.
It will pay you to seek out new keywords and edit your articles accordingly.
