Mr Walter Chrysler, the founder of Chrysler Corporation, first begin working for a railroad line adjusting locomotive valves. It was an old veteran who was training the young Walter Chrysler, this complicated art of adjusting locomotive valves. However, the old veteran liked drinking entirely too much. One night, the old man wanted to go out to party, do some drinking in town. In the very middle of the job, he turned toward Walter, and said good night, and he headed for town. Super surprised and confused, Walter was left on his own with a most pressing deadline.

Adjusting locomotive valves was extremely complex, even for the old veteran. But the young Walter Chrysler did not panic. He begins to dig into the nitty-gritty details like never before. He mastered and he absorbed the giant responsibility that night. Not long thereafter, Walter began improving valve adjusting through his own integrated thinking. Soon Walter did not need the old veteran. Soon thereafter, Walter did better than the old veteran himself.

The young Walter Chrysler decision that frightful night to dig into the details like never before and to also master the responsibility of adjusting valves had planter the needed seeds of integrated thinking and self-leadership, which many later blossomed into Cheysler Corporation. The young Walter Chrysler couldn't know, while he was sitting there digging into the nitty-gritty details on those valves, how he was going to build a successful giant American car company. While he was mastering and absorbing the details on his own, Walter couldn't see how he was investing in himself and how his own actions would initiate a self-perpetuating process of integrated thinking that would eventually lead him to building his own empire.

Integrated thinking can cause opportunities we often don't foresee to start coming our way. What happened to Walter Chrysler? Walter became the best valve man for the railroad line. The day came when he was called into an unsuspected meeting with some prominent businessmen, that was major players. That meeting resulted in young Walter advancing from a valve adjuster into a major management position, a major promotion. In time, Mr William Durant pulled Walter from locomotives into General Motors where Walter rose to the top. Eventually, Mr Walter Chrysler started Chrysler Motors and went on to built it into one of the big three, American car manufacturers. It all started from, doing the nitty-gritty details, integrated thinking, and self-leadership, and believing in his self.

there.

Thanks

Great post that is interesting I never knew that about Chrysler Motors. That it all started with trains. That is something to be proud of and now I understand the nitty-gritty details.

If Mr. Chrysler can do it we all can and that is all we have to do is believe in ourselves and just do it.

Mary
