Don't be Afraid to be Creative

One of my favorite parts of building a website is in its aesthetics & design. Don't get me wrong, content is & will always be the absolute king. But there's something that gets my creative juices flowing when it comes to creating a website's look and feel. And it seems like once a year I decide that I want to change things up a bit and go for a renovation.

Building a business is all about trial and error, what works and what doesn't, what feels right and what needs updating. Don't let yourself get frustrated when you can't find the *perfect* niche, or the *perfect* theme, or the *perfect* anything.

The fact of the matter is that to find something that works, EVERYONE goes through these kinds of self evaluations and renovations. Those who have been successful didn't just hit a homerun in their first at bat.

The trick is to find a good balance.

If I were to spend the next 2 weeks picking a new aesthetic for my site at the cost of creating quality content, that would be a mistake. But you can't be afraid to be creative. Let yourself breathe new life into your site and into your business every once in a while to inspire you to push forward.

Your website is where you conduct business, and there's nothing wrong with changing up the look in your office every once. For me, creativity brings on productivity. When I give my site a new, fresh look I feel more inspired to write and write and write.

Never be afraid to be creative. Find the balance between creativity and productivity. Get inspiration from those around you and find inspiration in yourself. Don't be afraid to make a mistake. That's the most fun path to success.

Just typing this I'm already excited to give my site a facelift, lol.

Well said, Rich!

Wonderful you have made a very important point here.

Always important to not be afraid of making mistakes, right?

Definitely right!

Awesome! My imagination is always running wild with me. I guess I better work on balance! Thanks and Best Wishes to You.

Thank you Mary!

Terrific post....yes, change is good.
Steve

I appreciate that Steve! Thank you!

This is a very informative post. Is only a few months I had decided to take a different approach to my website and changing up a few things and I already beginning to see the results.

Just learn that if you are doing the same thing for a long time and it is not working, you need to do something different. Traffic is not magic. Being creative as you rightfully said, can be a difference between failure and success. You hit the nail on the head with this one. I Appreciate You!

Make it a great day.

Glad you enjoyed this, David! Thank you!

Thanks for the inspiring words. I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect theme and getting everything to be the way I wanted it be 100%. After a couple of months I realized I won't get the 100% I ultimately want and wasted a lot of time NOT writing content. I agree first and foremost get the content in place and then work on the aesthetics.

I've gone back and spruced up my content with quality pics, applicable video content and graphs and charts to make my points. It helps break up the content and gives the website some professionalism. I still need to do some more sprucing up and will shoot now for a 90% solution until my content can draw in steady visitors. It will be good to have time to let my creative side have some liberties.

Do you produce all your graphics and creative elements or do you outsource them? I've done everything myself so far and it is good, but I think at some point some things may need a pro to produce the quality I am looking for.

That’s a great way to apply the training to grow your site :) I personally do everything myself, but there’s plenty of people who outsource their content to trusted writers. Just a matter of finding one who fits.

Hi erricantu,

Your new profile looks great in the new 2018.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the support!

Change is good.

Yes sir... you ever want to become stagnant. Always growing, always moving forward...

Cheers again Eric!!

Wayne

Cheers, brother!

Excellent post, we have all been there. The trick is to move on and try again, not always easy but rewarding when you do, Hudson.

Failures and mistakes are just a part of the business. When we stop being afraid to try something new and stop being afraid to make a mistake and it takes so much of the pressure off :) Thanks for the support!
