Tough Times Ahead

It's funny that one of the assignments of my current lesson is writing a post about our progress with WA so far. I had been thinking about it as a matter of fact.

I think one of the main reasons we all decided to start this journey was to gain more flexibility and financial freedom. We're tired of jobs that either don't pay that much or that severely limit our time.

The Start of My Journey

I had been looking for ways to either make money on the side or something that could replace my full-time job. I was tired of being stressed and dealing with clients over the phone every single day. Oftentimes, I felt like throwing the phone out the window and escaping from the office like a wild animal.

Then I found WA online. I was skeptical like many people and for good reason. There are so many scams out there and I didn't want to get ripped off...again.

I did some research and I concluded that it was legit. So I signed up in December of last year. I completed the first steps like creating a profile, adding my goals, etc, but other than that, I didn't do anything else.

Life Got in the Way

I know many of us dream of doing affiliate marketing and nothing else. Unfortunately, it's not always possible, at least not in the beginning. Many of us can't afford to just quit our full-time jobs and start working in affiliate marketing full time.

Due to several circumstances, I took a break. I continued with my job and other personal activities until I decided to retake my WA training last August.

Taking Baby Steps

I have been learning a lot ever since. I studied business in college and was familiar with a few things, but there were other things totally new to me.

I love writing and that part is not hard for me. As a matter of fact, I've had another blog for 4 years, although I never monetized it. Don't ask me why.

I love sitting in front of the computer and just type my ideas.

But then I ran into technical issues. I've got stuck several times with HTML and whatnot. It's definitely not my cup of tea.

I've met many people who have lent me a hand and there have times when nobody has been able to help me. But I haven't let that stop me. I use whatever resources are at hand.

The Icing on the Cake

When I thought that I was finally mastering this, I got laid off. I'm unemployed since Friday of last week.

The timing couldn't have been worse. I had been thinking of quitting my job only if my site worked, not before. I have been working consistently, but I haven't made a single cent yet.

I knew from the beginning that this was going to take time. But given the circumstances, I feel overwhelmed. This totally changed my plans. Now, not only do I have to work on my site but also look for a full-time job, which is a full-time job in itself. If I don't do it, I can't receive any unemployment benefits.

The struggle is real. I know I'm not the only one like this, but it doesn't make it any better. I remember reading about another fellow member with a similar story not too long ago. Her story gives me a little hope.

Well, this is my story so far. Hopefully, next year will be much better. We'll see.

Enrique, sometimes things happen that upset our plans, but when we look back on the ā€œthingsā€ years later we realise that without ā€œthe thingsā€ we wouldnā€™t have been challenged or even made the change.

Fearing the worst is often the most fearful thing, we often actually find that when the worst happens itā€™s not so bad as we thought.

Think of all the challenging things that have previously happened in your life, and yet you are here, you almost certainly learnt more from challenging things and this is just another, yes itā€™s scary but not impossible.

I think as Alex suggested maybe part time work for now, believe in yourself you will make this work and nothing will make you stop.

I am looking forward to hearing your progress.... šŸ¤žšŸ‘

Hi, Cordelia,

I must confess I'm somewhat scared and frustrated. I had kind of figured what my next steps would be, but then this happened. Now it's time to regroup and consider what my next move will be.

I was thinking of doing something at home. I think it would be easier if I didn't have to commute every day. Traffic in Houston is a nightmare during rush hour.

I have to ponder my options very well. I have to distribute my time between looking for a job, working on my site and doing my life as usual.

It's not the best scenario, but I won't give up. Thank you very much for your comment. It's always much appreciated. :)

Good luck, bit of meditation on a regular basis will often put your head in ā€œhere and presentā€ space.. šŸ˜‡

I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Enrique,
I am sorry to hear of your situation. Keep your head up high. This is a long term strategy. Keep putting the seed in the ground and your harvest will be realized. May God's blessings overflow in your life. Take a deep breath and take it one day at a time

Hi, Eric,

We always expect everything to go smoothly and then boom! Something happens and changes everything.

I know this is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new stage. I must confess I'm a little scared and frustrated, but I will continue doing my best.

Thanks for your words, my friend!

Hi Enrique,, sometimes the timing of things is not the best.

Then sometimes events can push us to make that commitment to do what it takes.

Have you thought about getting part time work just enough to get by on The remaining time you could invest into your business.

I have used this on occasion, it works.

I don't know your circumstances, so you will have to do what works best for you.

Best wishes.

Alex

Hi, Alex,

To be honest, I hadn't thought of a part-time job, but rather something I could do at home. I think it would be easier for me to work on my site if I worked from home.

I live in Houston and traffic can be a nightmare during rush hour. I have never worked from home, but will look for an opportunity

Thanks!

By the way, I forgot to mention I have to look for a full-time position in order to be eligible for unemployment benefits. I don't know about other states, but at least it's like that in Texas.

That can be how it rolls sometimes, as long as we keep chipping away we can create some of our desired outcomes.

Best wishes.

Thanks!

I am so sorry that the timing didn't work out for you but it will.
Sometimes we need a crossroad to head us in a better way.

You have helped so many people here, perhaps that can transfer into a different job.

Wishing you an easy road
Lily šŸ˜Š

Hi, Lily,

Yeah, definitely not the best timing.

You are very kind. Thank you for thinking that of me. It really means a lot.

I will continue doing my best.

Oh so sorry about your job, but where God closes a door He always opens a window. He didn't say that, but I have heard that saying for years and have found it to be true. There is something better for you out there, you'll see. Just do what you can, when you can here at WA. We'll be waiting on you to help all we can.

Have a blessed weekend
Charlotte

Hi, Charlotte,

Thank you very much for your kind words.

We've all heard that saying, although we sometimes forget about it.

I will do my best to continue my journey.
