Is the Wordfence Security plugin good? It says it makes your site up to 50 times faster. Does it really do that?
Wordfence plugin is a great plugin for security and speed.
I needed the extra security on my sites as I do not host my sites at Wealthy Affiliate.
I have been using it for over six months in all my sites and I am very happy with, it takes care of the rogues trying to access the admin section dead in their tracks (you set up the number of login attempts allowed to a small number like 3 to 5)
Thanks for asking the question, Leo and Emerald860 like it that is good enough for me.

I use it also. I love it. Especially when I receive notifications that people who are trying to hack my site get locked out! ;)
Yes I use it, it has sped up my site a lot. I also the Premium API key, not the free version.
And yes it can speed up your site that quickly If you enable the Falcon Engine and up to 30 times faster using the PHP caching engine. But remember this is a security plugin first.
Hey Leo, quick question, because wordfence has a caching system, would I still need the W3 Total Cache plugin, or should I uninstall it?
Thanks,
Todd
Hi Leo,
Sorry to bother you. Do you use WA hosting? Because I couldn't get the API key because Wordfence couldn't connect with my WP host. So I created a support ticket and got this response from WA hosting.
WA does not allow plugins, themes which require recurring connections to remote servers, WordFence is also not allowed by WA as the plugins is known to generate various issues, unwanted resource usage.
It might be my premium themeshop theme, but I tried it on another site with a free WP theme and have the same issue.
What do you think is the issue. Should I just go back to W3 total cache plugin.
Thanks,
Todd
No I do not use WA hosting - WA does not allow such advanced plugins as Wordfence as they have their own security protocols.
Right on Leo, that's what I was thinking. Have a great night and thanks as always for your help and experience.

Hi Leo, it says that enabling the falcon can make changes to your site. Is it safe to make the change? Thanks Olive

Is anyone using the wordfence security plugin?

Hi Englewolf,
I've been using it for quite sometime on my WA themed blog. I block the countries that WA blocks from Premium. It makes little sense for anyone to click through to something they can never convert to. It's also excellent for general security.

PS. My blog ISN'T hosted at WA.
