This is the first installment of the Knowledge Bitz Series. Todays topic is posting Amazon Affiliate links on Facebook. I have heard this asked many times. If you are allowed to post Amazon affiliate links on Facebook? The answer is YES!

It's easy to do. If you don't have an affiliate account with Amazon you can go to:

https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

Once you are signed up it's just a matter of copy and paste the affiliate links for the pages you would like to promote into a Facebook post. Whatever image is associated with that page will appear in your Facebook post making sorta of an advertisement for you right in your Facebook post.

In the post you will want to include what the product or service is. Make the post engaging so that people might interact with it by commenting or liking. Asking questions within the post helps get people engaged. Also, calls to action. You can ask to please share or if you know someone who may like this product please share with them.

You will want to add hashtags within your post so that you get more reach. I have included a screenshot of an example of a post that uses an Amazon affiliate link and hashtags.

Thanks Cory, I'll give that a try. I haven't posted Amazon links in Facebook.

I was under the impression that hash tags do not work on Amazon, and only work on Twitter.

I thought the same thing but they do work on Facebook. Try adding a hashtag to a word in your Facebook post. The word will become highlighted.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. They may have changed their thinking on this. I haven't tried it for several years.

Hashtags now work for nearly all major social media sites, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and maybe Pinterest.

Oh, linkedin does allow them too but you have to have more content than affiliate posts.

Good afternoon my friend, just want to stay this, I sell on my business page also I had my regular Facebook page. I have advertise my website and what I do in every article that I write on my website goes to Facebook. I have never had a problem doing that and I am selling items 7 days a week, and there are links that come from my business page, also my Facebook page to my website. No I don't do Amazon anymore. May you have a most wonderful successful rest of the week.

Yes, I've seen much controversy on this very topic with Facebook.

So, in the example above, the link goes directly to an Amazon product page, not a post with the link embedded within? This is affiliate marketing directly to a product source, and not redirecting to a blog/niche site/ etc?

I want to start implementing some of this, but the line has seemed very blurry. Your example pic seems very straightforward though as far as how to create the post.

I recall reading somewhere (but don't recall the source) that if this is done soley on the FB account, then FB sees the account merely as a sales page and will eventually block. The idea is to use this sparingly in between other informative or non-afflink posts, correct?

I primarily use Pinterest at this time, because I need to re-think my whole FB strategy...but, when I add more FB into the mix, I want to be doing some similar posts as this.

The link goes straight to the product page/ item in Amazon. I wouldn’t do only Affiliate link posts on Facebook. Like you said you should post other beneficial posts along with the affiliate link posts.

Thanks for the advice Cory.

Derek

Wow, This is very helpful information.
Do they really allow to share affiliate link in the post?
Thanks for sharing btw!

Yes they do

Awesome!
I will be trying this as well!

Thank you for that information

Thanks for the post and information, Cory. I haven't got to that part in the training yet, but I'm taking notes.

Hallelujah! Someone else understands affiliate links and Facebook. I've seen so many people telling others that social media sites don't allow affiliate links when all but Quora do that I use. Thanks for sharing this to everyone!

I have to warn about affiliate links with Pinterest. I had a Pinterest account taken down for adding my Wealthy Affiliate links that were cloaked in my pins.

They allow affiliate links, they DO think Wealthy Affiliate links are scams though because like Facebook, I think they think it's a get rich quick scheme, an MLM, or people have spammed WA too much. But affiliate links are allowed if you have a business account. Just... not WA.

That's good to know! Thanks, Rochelle.

I forgot to mention that Pinterest doesn't allow link cloaking either, btw. I only know it doesn't like WA because when you try to pin a blog from here it says this link is likely spam. Sigh. Facebook and Twitter don't mind us sharing blogs from WA, but in messenger its not a good idea. Apparently one member got a messaging block for it. I personally think those people who join just looking to get rich quick spammed the heck out of WA links and thus, it's an iffy thing.

Okay. This is excellent. I love you showing the use of hashtags in your post on FB. :) Thank you so much. Paula
