Knowing Your Target Audience
One of the first things you should do once you pick a niche for your affiliate marketing business is finding out who your target audience is. This is very important to know in order to go forward with your business.
You will want to know your audience inside and out. Facebook is a great tool to used to do research about your target audience. Find at least 5 people on Facebook that you believe are the top people that are in your target audience and start combing through their profiles. You want to come up with an Avatar Map.
Avatar Map
With an avatar map you want to write down the following things about your target person.
- Name?
- Age?
- Marital Status?
- Kids?
- Top Interests?
- Politics?
- How they learn?
- What work do they do etc.?
You go through their profile find these things out about them and open a word doc and start a file about them writing these things down. You can learn a lot about someone by doing this and this way you can write better sales copy to get your target audience engaged and buying from you.
You can do this using other social media networks as well. If you don't know who your target audience you can search for the top competitors in your niche and whoever is following your competitors that's who your target audience is!
The main point of this post is get to know your audience intimately it will help you in the long run and will give you insights into what kind of content you want to focus on writing and what type of products you will want to review for your audience.
Once you know your audience it becomes much easier to help them and sell to them.
I would like to know how you research your target audience to get to know them better?

Thanks for posting a valuable article for the family!
Never have gotten excited about who my target audience is, because I write on so many different things I would have to do a lot of profiles: people who like old science fiction, simple living, memoirs, and much more.

Yes great idea, especially if it is something you are not familiar with. Forums are good also to see what questions are being asked in your Niche. Then you can tailor posts to what your target market are wanting answering or needing help with.
