Hi everyone :)

What would you expect/like to see on a drama student/ drama enthusiast website... the site is for students, actors, teachers, practioners or anyone interes

I would suggest that you narrow this down a little bit, who exactly do you want to help out. Aspiring drama students, actors, teachers, etc....I would narrow that aspect of your audience and go from there Emily.

Definitely on the right track by choosing something that you are passionate about.

Thank you so much for your response!
Okay that's brilliant. I will aim it at just drama students as I have quite a bit of content in that field already, i can edit my other blogs to fit the drama student criteria. Perhaps instead of aiming it at actors as well, i could include an acting category.
Some of the suggestions here are really inspiring but I feel confused about how off track i can go with my niche, for example there have been mentions of costume, reviews, warm-ups, speeches etc but i just want to include them all lol, I guess you could say i'm going off track and getting ahead of myself but there is so much i could consider within the drama student topic.

Upcoming classes, free internet classes, improve, etc.

Great, thank you.

You might want to include something like the confidence building concepts that Josh Pais does on his http://committedimpulse.com/ website.

wow! that looks brilliant. I will look through it all... Thank you! :)

In addition to the ongoing training here and what others have recommended, I would also suggest you check out the Google+ communities in the performing arts/drama, etc. areas. You can check out your potential competition and look for topics that might not be covered thoroughly and you will definitely get ideas. Wishing you success!! (You'' need to set up a Google+ account if you have not already done so.)

Thats a good idea! Will give me an idea of what other people have already covered and what has been missed. Need to try and fill a gap! Cool, will do!

Thanks!

Emily I'm not into drama but I've had some in my Church. Ideas on getting through a try out successfully, how to write a play, where to buy costumes or how to make them, stage makeup ideas or even proper conduct while at a theatre may be good. You have so much available to you. I hope this helps.

Ohh i like proper conduct while at the theatre... 'Stage Etiquette and Theatre Conduct.' - I like it!
I'm writing a blog at the moment called 'Smash your auditon' although i might chage it to 'Ace your audition' as it sounds less agressive lol. So its good to know thats what people would expect to see on such a site.
Thank you for your help.
All the best :)

Costume design?

I don't know to much about costume design, but i could include something to do with costume...Maybe where to get it and what suits the charcters played in different cultures and time periods. I'll look into it !

It was just a thought, my niece is studying drama and acting too, she loves the costume design part of it. :)

I would say probably upcoming shows, reviews of shows you've seen or maybe some behind the scenes action.
tips and tricks maybe? theater makeup, how you warm up, etc.

I hadn't thought about stage make-up. I could do a step by step tutorial with images, or maybe a video. Thats a great idea!

I hadn't thought of behind the scenes either, i will cosider that too.
Thank you for your help! :)

great! look forward to seeing what you come up with! :)

Thanks again!

The niche needs to be narrowed. Think about, specifically, what you want to create for your readers. Keep us posted!

Well I had considered my niche to be drama - as a whole topic, in which various sub-niches emerge...The thing about drama, theatre, performacne etc is that it all links together and integrates well. So addressing auditions will lead to warm - ups, which will lead to performance techniques etc. Ive got various pages and catagories..

Do you mean perhaps i focus just on auditions...tips, material etc... Or focus just on drama students...

Thanks for your comment :)

Well, if you are following the training, Kyle discusses how to narrow your niche. Drama is too broad.
If you were to Google drama, would you get the results you wanted or would you have to type another word or two? Be really specific.
Once you have it narrowed, THEN you will find Keywords to build your website.

I'm on lesson 7 atm. I thought i could chose a subject and then pin point various aspects of it, as a drama student i would love to see all the information and advise i could ever need to get me through my performances, assignments and applications etc. I've spoken to a few of my friends and they find it annoying that there are no drama sites with an 'All you could ever need to know' approch. Thought i would try it. I did have a discussion on here not long ago and few people said it wasn't to broad as i would have broad content and attract various people looking for different things.
Ive already started to build my content but im sure i can stear in one direction.... Perhaps just acting technique.

Thanks for your comment !

It is too broad. I did the research for you. If you proceed, you are going to find it hard to accomplish anything because you won't receive generalized traffic. There are too many niches being thrown into one.
Let me know if I can help, again! I am great at choosing niches!

So the fact that many of us students are looking for the 'delivers all' site means nothing really. In theory it can accomplished because there is a gap that needs to be filled, but in reality it cant be accomplished due to lack of generalized traffic. I understand what you mean about too many niches being thrown into one...What niche would you suggest? Perhaps 'How to smash your audition' - I just feel this is very basic and their isn't a lot to write about within this, i can cover that in 500 words in one blog.

I'm not sure what to include or what to write about. I'm guessing it must be in relation to myself or my niche?

In all fields the fundamentals are the same. Such as a healthy thought process, learning how to learn, and learning how to take action. Although we share different things within our businesses, we can connect with everyone in the same way. We do this by helping them see their potential, and then gently guiding them to the step by step process we have created to help them reach the goal that we have for them, and they would like to realize. I would have a goal or end result you would like for those you strive to connect with, this way you know where you aiming.

Brilliant comment!

Thank you so much, that has helped me a lot. Each blog will have an individual motivation and goal...and my buisness will have a wider more general motivation and goal that the blogs will help me to achieve.

Thanks again

Absolutely about your niche and yourself. Broad is not really that bad at this junction as it leaves a wide spectrum for you to write about. Just Keep it short and simple in the beginning and elaborate later.

Thank you for the tip!

My niche area is drama/theatre, (Broad I know.)
However, within this, my niche market is drama students.

So, im guessing my blog would be benefical to drama students if i blog about assignments that all drama students have to do; e.g: work placement and performances.

I feel this is quite broad, maybe too broad?

It does not look too broad to me, perhaps because of my limited knowledge. If you go too narrow you might not have enough stuff to write about. Perhaps it is easier to narrow your focus along the road, than to make it wider. Just my thinking (the name of my site in fact). Jovo

Great, i'm glad to hear that as i was worried that others may find it less specific than need be. I'm sure I will have lots to write about now, especially considering the fantasic answers i'm getting!

Thanks again

Your articles should be related to your niche. What do people want to know about regarding a topic in your niche and how can you help solve a problem for them.

What is your niche?
