Thanks for the help, everyone! I found the section in the lower right of my post that was being blocked by another plugin's info. Thanks a mil for all the suggestions. Alanna

Hey Alanna,

Whenever you need information, you can check to see if a training or blog tips have been offered here at WA. See screen prints below...

If you cannot find what you are looking for, you can change the keywords used to search for the information you are looking for.

Hope you find this helpful.

You can add a hyperlink to an element (not the whole image) in Canva. After adding the link you can save it in PDF. If you open the PDF document the link should work for the specific element, but I assume you don't want a PDF you want an image.

For this, you just add your image to Wordpress insert it in the post, click on the image, select edit and under display settings select Link to and select Custom URL. Complete the details and you are done.

Thanks, Rika. I did try that but the PDF was not recognized. That could be an issue with my theme. I found where to add a link in the lower right corner. I missed that before. I had been looking everywhere for that and couldn't find it. Luckily, I did find it!

Hi Alanna,
I have just tried to add a link to a canva image without any problem.
Add the image to your post and before you upload it scroll down the Attachment details on the right hand side and near the bottom you will see Link to choose Custom and add the link there save upload and you should find that works

Thanks! I just found that! I knew it was something simple! Thank you! Alanna

Hi
Alanna
I would ask Loes as she seems to know a lot about Canva

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/loes

Thank you, Robert!

Send her a PM and I'm sure she will help all she can.

I believe you found out already👍

I haven't used Canva Loes that's why I gave your name to Alanna.
Hope you're having a nice evening.
Take care.
Robert

I used it, I switched to designwizard, I have a premium account there till black Friday

You could not help Alanna?
If not I'm sure there will be other members who will have solutions.
Now I'm off to a hot bath then a wee bit TV before an early night.

Calling all Amazon Affiliates!

Hey guys,

I recently started writing reviews of Amazon products on an old site I am trying to revive. I published the post about a we

Hey Alanna,

As Phil (aka feigner) has already explained to you that it is the plugin you are using for schema that is causing these errors. I had a similar issue awhile back and had to literally test out EACH and EVERY plugin that I liked.. and wanted to use, until I found one that PASSED the test.

Here's the Google Structured Data Testing Tool: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool that you can use in testing out your next choice of plugin.

Hope you find this helpful.

This is a great tool, Triblu! I just ran it and it gave me some insight! Thank you! Alanna

this is to do with the schema data google expects to see when you use the product type.
there is a list of what is expected at https://schema.org/Product
which maybe totally confusing.
but with your star rating you may have extra data you can fill in below the post to add more schema data.
i don't know whether not having all of the schema data for a type hurts seo might be worth a google.
google needs to learn to deal with schema better - you don't need to add all of the data, only that which is visible to your visitors.
i hope this puts your mind to rest over what google sent you- for me i would ignore it, unless you show your visitors some more information.
good luck
phil
info got from https://schema.org/docs/faq.html#13

Hi Phil. Thanks for responding. I guess it doesn't really have much of an effect. I did go back and add the product price into the post but aside from that I don't think visitors are interested in things like SKU, ID, etc.

I'll keep an eye on it though. Thanks for the advice! Alanna

Hi - as regards Amazon, you absolutely cannot add the price of the product to your review. It will get you banned from their program. It can fluctuate daily. The only way to show it is to add the product HTML from the text + image link in Amazon, which updates automatically when there is a price change.

I thought as much, Diane. I had added pricing info but have since taken it out. Thanks! Alanna

Hi Alanna

Can't give you an answer I'm afraid to your specific question.

I use WP review lite (but not for amazon products) and get similar errors if I dont want to fill in certain fields which is often the case.

I assumed as the warnings were in yellow that they were just advisory and shoudnt have any affect on how Googe views the post but will be interetesed to see what responses that you get.

Kevin

Thanks, Kevin. Yes, they are only advisory but I prefer to have a clean slate with Google! It doesn't seem to have affected the post because I can that clicks have been made to Amazon. Thanks for chiming in! Alanna

Calling all Pinterest geeks out there! Recently, I've been receiving messages on my Pinterest account from people who want to place pins on my boards? I'm attaching a message I

I would be careful.Isn't that like having someone asking to be a user on your website, being able to write articles and having control of your site? What’s the difference?Just saying...

I do. But I control it, always.

The reason is that Pinterest is a little bit different from most places, well a big difference to say it correctly! But if we forget the original search, it is at the same time my most important place.

It is good for your boards, must in my mind, to have some pins from others, both direct from websites and of other pins. Pinterest ranks you much higher is you do. I guess all over my 18 boards; the % is very high I have for it, more than 50.

But at the same time, Pinterest is changing its algorithm a lot. Followers are not the thing to have in mind, monthly viewers are most important. But most important is the click to your site of course.
Adding that possibility, I want to get the monthly viewers as many as possible.

But now, is Pinterest most focused on mow much engaged is in your pins. I see a huge difference when that started.

I would make all your boards just for you to pin to. Maybe create a single group board with some rules about what they can post etc.

The advantage of this means more people will follow you.
More of your pins will be repinned which could result in more traffic. The more pins being added the higher your board may sit in the Pinterest search.

The disadvantage is that you would need to monitor the group to make sure the rules are being followed. Which will take up time.

I think sometimes it's all about testing and seeing what works and what doesn't.

It will all depend on your niche as well as certain niches do better than others.

Trust this helps :)

Interesting! I didn't think of it that way! But it may be worth testing out on one board as you have suggested. Thanks! Alanna

I have diverted away from Pinterest at the moment to focus on you tube so will be interested in learning your results.

As I am not yet on pinterest cannot really comment, but something tells me to be careful.

Will do. Thanks!

If your site is ranking high many will try to use it. Google shows sites who used my pins in Pinterest and my site name to get into page 2. My site is on page 1 in all three search engines. So be very careful.

Thank you, Snazzy! I suspected as much! Plus, if you allow someone to pin on your boards, you will have to keep an extra eye on your boards to make sure they are not pinning things you don't want on your board. Basically, it comes down to "someone squatting on your land" if I can use that analogy!

Congrats on having your boards rank with Google!

You are welcome and yes you can call them illegal squatters lol...as for the rankings the down to it, is everyone else who is too lazy to work wants to piggy back on it as well. Sometimes I wonder if it is better to have lower ranking and peace of mind haha 🤔😉

Hi, Alanna, clicking on the SEO title should bring up the Meta description. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hey Alanna,

Google searching "yoast meta description box missing" (without the quotation marks, of course) I received 3 different help articles posted on the yoast website, as well as WordPress support forum.

Not knowing exactly what your problem is, I suggest that you run the same (or similar) search and read through these articles to see if they offer you a resolve for your issue.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Alanna,

Deleted your cache lately?.. Might be a browser thing according to the Yoast Blog. You'll find where to delete cookies / cache for your specific web browser by performing a web search.

Hi guys,

I wrote an article for someone who I am establishing a business relationship with. This person liked the article and indicated that I'd be writing more.

If I were paying for the article I would pay about $25.00 Per article and if I were charging for the service then I would charge $40.00 for a 10000 world post done right...

I'm guessing you mean a 1,000 word article? Not 10,000 words? Thanks for your comment, TTedesco1. I'm thinking along those lines for a 1,000 word article!

Yes, my mistake....

I have paid for articles, you can easily charge $30 for a good article with keyword research from around the 500 words, for more words you can add $4 or $ 5 per 100 words

Excellent, Loes! Thanks!

Hi Alanna, nice to see another Irish person here. I used to write for the PC Live! magazine back in the late 90s. I had no training as a journalist; I was just a contributor. I got paid about 20p (before the Euro) per word if memory serves. But that was for a professional publication.

I've written a few articles for other people in the internet marketing niche and I charged $0.05 per word (different market), so an 800-1,000 word article would cost the buyer $40-$50.

It all depends on how long it takes to write an article and do any research needed. If you can do it in an hour, then $40-ish is a good price. If it takes you 3 hours or longer, then you're working for minimum wage or less.

Hey Nightwatch! Nice to meet another Irish person here too! Very cool that you wrote for PC Live! I used to love that magazine! $0.05 sounds about right when I calculate my hourly rate vs. 0.05 per word. I think I'll go with something like that.

Would you advertise article writing using per word or an hourly rate?

Thank you for chiming in!

From the client's point of view, they're looking for something of a fixed size (word count) and probably don't give much thought to the amount of time that goes into the creation of the article.

If you can do some quick research, find a non-copyright image to use and write the article in about an hour, and do that consistently, then I'd go with the flat-rate fee.

If a client is looking for an article in a niche you're not familiar with so you have to do a lot of research beforehand, then it's probably time to have a conversation with the client as this would be considered bespoke work and you should be able to charge by the hour. The client may not be willing to pay for several hours work for an article at the end though.

It all comes down to managing the expectations of the client. So if you're creating a page to advertise your writing services you need to be explicit in what they'll get for the money you charge so there's no room for misinterpretation. For custom jobs, ask them to contact you directly with their requirements. You can then give them a quote for the work and they'll either accept or decline at that point.

Excellent information! Thank you! I'm in the process of outlining that right now. So far, I am offering 2 types of services with a different price structure: (1) where the client provides the topic, keyword(s) and URLs for research and (2) where the client supplies the topic and i do all the work, i.e., research, keywords, writing (500 word minimum) and image sourcing. I'm also considering a package deal of 4 articles per month but I'm not quite there yet on price! ;)

Thank you for all your help!

...hello....you're asking some really good questions that i was asking some years ago when I became interested in travel writing and copy writing...so many factors to consider... and it's all a negotiation really...
1. novice or seasoned track-record?
2. price list?
3. are you offering a package deal? e.g. for repeat business, can offer say next three or ten articles for x $$ .. ?

Suggest can price by the job, page, word-count-- it all depends on what the market can bear...

Did you get a chance to ask this person what they felt might be reasonable? ... sounds like you want to 'rinse & repeat' so offer a 'package deal' so that you have future business with this client...hope this helps a bit...

All the best for every success... cheerio... :)

Yes! I did ask! But I was simply told to send them an invoice! So I feel that the ball is in my court but I don't want to take advantage! I'm trying to build a business and want to write more for her! She knows what my hourly rate is so I think I will base it around that. Thank you for chiming in!

to be truthful Alanna it depends on the article.it's the purpose I charged $60 an article 15 years ago. I know Mel (on my own Terms)writes for other people. I would say if you've done your keyword research and you are expecting that article to convert not less than $20. Have a look at upwork.com and also
Google freelance writers and see what other people are charging.

Thanks! Yeah. I could't charge less than 20 for this article when you factor in keyword research and image sourcing. Thanks, Kat!

Alanna don't undercharge for your knowledge

Usually, the beginners earn 5$ per hour or per 500 words. But it depends on the quality of your article. Some freelancers earn up to $100 per 500 words.

Ask what you think you deserve for your work!

I would consider myself a seasoned writer. I've been writing articles for years. When I factor in the keyword research and sourcing an image it would bump the price up, in my opinion. Yet I wouldn't feel right charging $100 for this article.
