For the purpose of email marketing, I intend to offer an ebook. The ebook is created by an affiliate programme I am promoting.

The programme is with Clickbank

The Vendor's instruction is to insert my Clickbank ID, which is the Nickname, within a specific area, then click a link which generates my affiliate link/

The result is that 'Click Here' buttons within the ebook reveal my affiliate link including Clickbank Nickname. So, this is actually a raw affiliate link.

Does anyone know how to cloak a Clickbank nickname prior to creating a Pretty Link?

Sorry, Valerie. I misread your question and gave an unhelpful answer which I've now deleted.

Hi Marion, thanks for your message. No worries about the one you deleted as I didn't see it. It was evening and I had chosen to log-off!

Frustrating that they have changed the rules Valerie. I guess that can happen in 9 years.

Yes, things do change particularly on the internet. This is something I alert others to. However, Clickbank responded to my request for help saying that they could not find a problem with my affiliate link!

Thanks for leaving your comment, Lily :)

I was taught that you cant do that. For Clickbank. I read their rules. I need to find that, you must spell it all out with the hoplink? included otherwise if you cloak it, you will not get credit for the sale. In email you have to do the full link.

"Do not attempt to hide your HopLinks by having them open into other types of sub-window objects, such as frames, iframes, layers, applets, or images. These types of HopLinks are considered invalid, and could result in lost affiliate referral credit, incorrect display of your website, or, in the case of abuse of the HopLink system, could result in account termination without notice."

maybe find it here

haha.. funny, but not for me. Its important to know what we can do and cant do when promoting some affiliate products. I always read their rules. Same goes for the advertising rules when promoting an affiliate link.

Thanks for this information, Brenda. Somewhere, somehow, things have changed.

I have been a Clickbank affiliate since April 2010. I earned a significant amount of commissions, equating to a few thousand dollars over approximately five years whilst using Pretty Links.

During the past two years promoting the same programmes, I earned almost nothing. I have been trying to find an answer. I approached Clickbank. They could not find a problem with links, and yet I was using Pretty Links.

I do absolutely appreciate your help, Brenda. But I am annoyed. I'm not going to elaborate here!

I've read the information from Clickbank links you sent me. I'll re-do all Clickbank links on my website. Maybe, I'll earn a million from now on.....not likely, but no harm in throwing out to the universe.

Cheers :)

Great, yes its helpful to read the rules and know what to do. Now you know. Yes, it’s annoying, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully, you will set the links correctly. Best of luck.
