Resolved with a Honeypot

Check to see if the signup plugin you're using has a "Honeypot" feature. The honeypot adds an extra field to the signup form that humans can't see but bots can see. So the bot fills it in. If the field gets filled in then the plugin stops them from completing the signup.

Original Question

I'm getting multiple signups from Mark Mark mark357177@hotmail.com on 3 of my websites. 1 of the sites is not listed here in my profile page so I don't know where they're coming from. 18 signups from the same name and email address in the last week.

It's not a spam comment, it's a spam signup. I have a signup form on each of my sites where I offer gifts in exchange for email addresses so I can build my lists.

Has anyone else had this problem? I don't know how to stop it. Please help if you can.

Google says I'm not the only one receiving fake signups.

How many websites do you have? It seems to me that the more there are, the more one can become a target.

Yeah it definitely sounds spammy, maybe you can block the person. Found this article, hope it helps!

Great article but I don't want to discourage real people from signing up by making it more difficult. As far as I'm concerned Captchas are out and the other suggestions are probably just as bad. My email responder service will sort things out but it's annoying having the emails clog up my inboxes.

He may be having trouble signing up for some reason. I have tried to get my daughter signed up for Jaaxy and it keeps telling me she has multiple accounts and she hasn't been approved for even the first one. We only tried twice and then tried to get support from Jaaxy, then Kyle himself and I am still waiting for a response from anyone. I've been waiting quite a few days now, over 2 weeks since my first support request, 4 days since my last. She didn't have any trouble signing up for WA, it was just Jaaxy. I'm wondering if there is a glitch somewhere. Anyway, she is also waiting for the response so we can get her moving along in her training.

That was my first thought too but no-one else has had that problem and it's on 3 websites not just 1.

I haven't had the problem. It might be a bot. Have you activated the spam protector, askimet, and captcha features mentioned in the tutorials?

It's not a spam comment, it's a spam signup.
