Congratulations Marie. Best wishes.

I'm confused about whether I should start by setting up the site with a SiteRubix sub-domain--or go immediately to the domain I own in the niche. What are the advantages or reasons why I might want to start with the sub-domain? Thanks in advance for your advice and comments.

I'm not sure why you are calling it a sub domain. The best reason I can think of is that you can follow the directions as you learn. Then you will be able to try out different plugins, etc. without fear of messing up your main site. A lot of members make a site just to use to experiment with different things they would like to try. Learn with your siterubix site. You can always transfer part or all of it later. Those are just my thoughts. You are free to do as you see fit.

Thanks for your comment, Jean. Maybe I used the term "subdomain" incorrectly--- if I create a site on siterubrix and the url is reiningpro.siterubrix.com--isn't that a "subdomain"? With my question, I really meant to ask--what advantages will I have by starting the site on siterubrix if I already own the domain? What disadvantages? If you start with siterubrix and the site indexes--and later you switch to your own domain--does it need to index all over again? I am a beginner--trying to get my head around all this. Thanks in advance for your help. MAE

You were right to call the siterubix site a sub domain. It is owned by Wealthy Affiliate. Sorry if I confused you. If you already own a domain; I don't see any advantage to start with a siterubix site. And yes, when you switch from siterubix to your own domain, it would have to index again as a new site. Did you purchase from Wealthy Affiliate or another host? I'm just curious. Did you get a .com or .org?

Hi JeanBrickley,
Thanks for your answer. I buy domains at godaddy. (I like them because I can call them 24/7 and they ping me with an email when domains need to be renewed.) I have several .com domains and also several .org's as well as some ,biz, and ,xyz's... (I believe I also have 1 ".pro", 1 ".rocks", and 1 ".dog" ) How long have you been working with Wealthy Affiliate? and what is/are your niche(s)? I'm a beginner on a steep learning curve--loving the support of this wonderful community!
Peace,
Marie

Hi Marie. I have been at WA for a year now. I came here as a complete newbie to internet affiliate marketing. I have learned a lot but still have much to learn. I only have one website hosted by WA. thesuccessfulretiree.com
I will have to look in to godaddy. Are they less expensive?

Jeannie

Hi Jeannie,
I'm a member of GoDaddy's Domain Club and get domains for about US$8.29... I like GoDaddy because they answer the phone live 24/7 and provide good support to clueless wannabee web developers. (I have also used namecheap.com--they can be harder to use and offer no live support.) Thanks for sharing your site address; I look forward to seeing it--the name is intriguing already!
Peace,
Marie

Thanks Marie. My website is a work in progress. It started out one way and then sort of morphed into whatever it is today. I wanted to write about health; but I also wanted to share my faith. So I have three categories of health posts. Physical, Mental and Spiritual. Then I added a category called Just for Fun. It can be anything from jokes, quotes and superstitions to crafts, etc. I still haven't categorized my WA posts which are under Top Posts; but I should be doing that soon. I thought it best to stick to one website until I get done with my lessons. (Which seems to be taking forever). Then I have a lot of ideas for the future. What are your websites? I would be glad to leave you a comment on a post or two; if it would help you out.

Blessings,
Jeannie
