Sorry about that, Ella! I always hit save after every sentence or paragraph to make sure it doesn't happen. Was this a WA blog post or website post?
Jeff
It was on here. I am having issues trying to decide how to move forward because I got scanned and I am now $1700 poorer then I was. So if I have to pause my sub I won't be able to take my owned domain w me I think? It's a little confusing and I was sharing some good news about finally getting some freelance wiring work but at the fake time asking all the questions and needing upset about scammer on Tasker and fiver and tyne sites in trying to wade through. Lots of fun lessons to learn in life right...
You can have the domain pointed to another hosting company, or while you're out you can keep the domain because it is good for a year. If you have a site on it though, you would want to do a backup because it will go away after a while! Prayers for you, my friend!
Jeff
How did your writing disappear? If it happens regularly, perhaps you should write in Word, saving as you go and then when finished, copy and paste into your blog post or wherever the final destination is.
Ya I'll have to figure something out, silly me used to just open and compose am email and then I always had it saved. But I lost it on here 2x and 2x on my laptop where I'm actually unsure of where I was wiring. It always seems to be the "best article ever" even if disappears :(

If I purchased my website name here which one is it we use? I'm so confused. I have to register my domain? I'm lost
Hi Ella...looks like Abie has you covered. May I suggest when you write, save a copy to your documents folder so that if something should happen you won't lose your work. I learned this the hard way. Also, when you select a domain, a .com is the best if you can secure it.
Susan
Thank you so much, it's happened 3 times and it set me back a lot because I put 3 or 4 hours into each article before I lost them , dad and frustrating, I really should be getting more patience as I get older but it's the opposite, unfortunately..
However, you may start with a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content and until you are satisfied with your niche and name, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $15 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager which is an easy process. However hosting is included in a premium subscription to the Wealthy Affiliate platform.
Also please be aware that your desired dot com domain name may not be necessarily available at time of purchase.
Another reason is that if you made a mistake on a dot com domain, you won't be able to edit the URL, you'd have to purchase a new one.
Biggest advantage is that you own your dot com and can do what you want with it vs a siterubix subdomain remains the property of WA.
I always go for a dot com domain name.
Websites tab top menu > Site domains
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
I just used Mindscrapes.com And I bought it for $15 ... just spent over an hour writing a masterpiece just to have it disappear, third time this had happened in the past week, so frustrated. How do I keep letting this happen ?? If I purchased the domain do I need to register it?
You go to site builder, that's websites tab top menu, then site builder
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/build
Choose a domain you own, enter credentials and follow procedure.
I can see it parked here at WA.
ok , im not sure where I got confused but i purchased my domain name, and now I have to register it?
As it is purchased it from here you would find it in your site domains.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
You don't have to register it, however you have to renew it yearly at its renewal date.
You would get an email notification a month before it expires, however if you have it on auto renewal, you do not have to do anything.
You also have a month more to which you can renew after expiration date.
If you are keen on the domain name, you may switch on auto renewal.
So if I don't have enough $ to continue to afford wa does that mean I won't be able to access my domain or anything? I'm hoping I can keep up but I've had some financial issues lately so..
In such an event, you can still access your domains here at Site Domains but not hosting.
For any websites hosted here, you need arrange alternative hosting for your website before your subscription ceases as you would be locked out the platform, site support back ups are only available for 60 days.
You can never revert back to being a starter.
I also suggest you backup your sites, you can use the AIO WP Migration or Updraft plugins. UpdraftPlus is a premium and highly recommended
.
Also domain names must have passed the grace period of 60 days.
Let me know what else you need, also feel free to reach out when you need more help or have further questions.
You may also reply to this thread.
But I believe you can do this!

Do we like Ellarossdotcom.com
Or Mindscrapes ?????????????
I have 47 more also lololol
There's nothing wrong with ellaross dot com ...
especially given your goals...
Using mindscrapes depends on what your niche is...
:-)
Richard
Thanks Richard, I thought it evoked a little chuckle , especially because it kind of funny as I am generally pretty insecure and adding the dotcom was a bit cocky, the total opposite of me ...
Thanks for answering :)
Yes... I get your point, Ella. however, the problem with humour in a site name is that it can easily be ambiguous or simply misunderstood and might take a little longer to become established. Some people might regard the site as unserious which might not work well for a business.
:-)
Richard
I would remove the com bit from my domain name i.e. Ellaross dot com
You can use leandomainsearch dot com, you input a word and it gives you another
And a godaddy valuation tool to find a memorable name.
I'd also use this site
http://namecheckr.com
to check if the name is also available on social media platforms.
However nowadays domains are not so affected by SEO vs writing quality rich content with good choice of keywords, latter of which would rank you in the search engines.
I would always go for a dot com domain name vs dot net or dot org as people's perceptions when they start typing they would typically assume it is a dot com. And make sure it is spelled correctly as it cannot be edited once purchased.
I would not include dashes and check if the domain is copyrighted, trademarked and ' or registered to an established business.
Sweet Thank you, I have a lot to learn about all this for sure. I thought the dotcom was kinda funny but not haha funny .... I have a twisted sense of humor tho... Im going to check that site right now. Im either going w the travel /wedding and honeymoon niche (as Im a travel agent now also) Or the bipolar mental health side iof things w the mindscrapes... I think

It is a great community Ella…it’s almost like an extended family — we are all here to help and learn from each other and not to compete or steal secrets from each other.
