Mother Goose Rhymes
When I was a little girl I learned Mother Goose nursery rhyme by Mom reading them over and over to me.
My kids learned them by my reading them out of a book over and over.
Now my daughter has read them to my granddaughter the same way!!
Well I tell you all this because this month we have been blessed with getting to share our family with a 4-year-old girl. She is an absolute living doll!!
Now they have Mother Goose on T.V.!! and this girl would spend 24/7 watching it if we would let her. Here is a picture of the Mother Goose Club!!
That is okay except she has some of the words/rhymes messed up. Like for example, This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy went full speed, this litte piggy had none, and this little piggy went... When she did this with my granddaughter, my granddaughter just stopped and looked at her. The corrected version is listed below. My granddaugter and I had to reteach her that it is roast beef not Full Speed.
Now she doesn't really sit down and watch the T.V. back keeps it running in the background as what I call "noise" but when a song comes on that she MUST dance to she will stop whatever she is doing and run to the living room to listen and interact.
I have found myself walking down the street singing under my breath: Skida-ma-ricky-dinky-dink-skida-ma-ricky-doo I love you Skida-ma-ricky-dinky-dink-skida-ma-ricky-doo I love you I love you in the morning and in the afternoon I love in the evening and underneath the moon Skida-ma-ricky-dinky-dink-skida-ma-ricky-doo I love you.
This song has added a spring in my step!! I guess there are worse things I could be singing!!

Hey Veronica,
I witnessed 1st hand advantages and disadvantages. If parents just use it as a babysitter, that's a disadvantage because so many words can be misunderstood from the TV.

It's a sad reality, Elaine, but too often, parents use the TV or Smart Phones as a "babysitter".
Technology really can be our best friend if we use it correctly or our worst enemy is it's abused. Technology should enhance what we already have, not be a replacement.
When my kids were little they did have a favorite bedtime tape they liked to go to sleep to but that was limited time.
Even with my granddaughter still today she doesn't watch T.V., UTube, or any tech unless an adult is at least within hearing distance. We're not trying to be helicopter parents but just don't want inappropriate stuff coming into play. And she understands. She loves Mom or YaYa to sit and watch a movie with her.

That would be hilarious. I have almost started skipping at times!! We live right next to a retirement community and I wonder if I could sign up to be there next entertaining act!!!

Very nice indeed Elaine! Having grown up in the Tropics I grew up with a slightly different nursery stories and songs.
They would tell us scary stories and threaten to call the monsters in if we did not sleep. So we did. ha ha ha.
