First Week Back At School!

So school started for my granddaughter on Tuesday and she was so excited!!! We had an interesting first week back at school, to say the least!!!

TUESDAY MORNING

We don't have any kind of transportation so I got a friend of mine to take my granddaughter, my daughter, and myself to my granddaughter's school. We got the usual first day of school pictures in front of the school. The school had LARGE wooden "2018" numbers plus a bus that each individual child is getting their picture taken with. Along with 50 million other parents that wanted the same. This is just like I read in a quote " treat every person/customer as if they were the only one".(maybe a little out of context Mel but that was the meaning I got). We dropped her off, walked her in and all was fine. When we got back to the car Mom breaks down crying because her baby has grown up (oh, maybe I wasn't suppose to tell you that)

TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Her bus is to be here at 4:20 according to the school. Great Mom is home from work but has to go back. She wants to hear about her daughter's first day! Well when 4:25 rolls around Mom stars to wonder "where is my child". Then 4:30 and no child so Mom calls the school and the school closed at 4. So Mom calls the bus barn as is put on hold because all circuits are busy. By now it's 4:45 and no child, Mom is freaking old, cry the whole nine yards. Everytime a school bus drives past our apts. she asks me "what bus number is that?". Finally, at 5pm my granddaughter's bus pulls up!!

WEDNESDAY MORNING

My daughter takes my granddaughter outside to wait for the bus. A bus comes and my granddaughter get on, stops, then takes a seat and the bus drives off. My daughter comes back inside to lay down. She jolts out of her room yelling she has just got a text from her daughter saying she got on the wrong bus. My daughter call the school and the school tells her not to worry because all the school are working together to get these kids to the correct schools. As soon as they can get a bus they will bring her to the school. So she will get to her school eventually. Mom is relieved, sorta?

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

Well this wasn't too bad. After yesterday, we didn't expect her home at 4:15. My daughter didn't have to work after she got home at 3. The bus got here at 4:40. We asked my granddaughter why the bus was late today and she had no answer.

THURSDAY MORNING

Well, this was an eventful morning!!! My daughter has several alarms set to wake up, my granddaughter also has alarms set, I even have last minute alarms set. NONE of these went OFF!!! My son has to get for work at 7am and when he did he noticed everyone still asleep. He work us up. SHE HAD MISSED ALL THE BUSSES. My daughter had to get an Uber so my granddaughter could get to school. My daughter went with her to school and then had the Uber take her to work. I guess the bright side is that we know that she made it to school that day ON TIME!!

THURDAY AFTERNOON

Again, the bus isn't getting her home at 4:14. One of these days we will surprised when the bus is REALLY here at 4:15. Of course, we are always here so if they are that would be no problem. It would have been nice since my daughter only has a certain length of time between jobs that she can see her daughter. Eventhough I'm here, Mom would still like to see her smiling face. The bus did get here at 4:40 today!!

FRIDAY MORNING

Granddaughter gets to ride the bus for the first time this week!!! And it was somewhat uneventful!!! Except that it is suppose to get here at 6:57 and they got to the bus stop at 6:50 the bus was just pulling up!!!

FRIDAY AFTERNOON

End of the week!!! She got home at around 4:35 and maybe the bus is getting faster or we are just relaxing more.

My daughter told me that this year is going to give her gray hair (it's only just beginning)

My granddaughter wants to take Tech Art, Physical Art, as her favorite electives then music, dance, choir. We will see what electives she gets on Monday!!! She has had a taste of all the electives this past week and has to pick her best two favorite plus one alternate. From that they will create her schedule she will have for the remaining year.

Thanks for reading all about her first week back at school!!

What a lovely blog Elaine. It's nice to see how other countries work.

I'm glad the bus drivers look after the kids so well.

An electric scooter would come in handy.....

Cheers Jae ♫

Hey Jae
Thanks for reading and commenting! I enjoy seeing how other countries handle certain situations.
Unfortunately in this case a scooter wouldn't help since the school is about 30 minutes away.

Oh too bad, that would have been fun to zip down the highway in caravan style, kids attached to mom on their own scooters.

Oh how I remember school days and school buses, we eventually homeschooled. I am sure that the buses will get more smooth with experience. It is amazing that your grandaughter gets to pick electives and especially creative ones, that is so great. Hope she has amazing year at school, good experiences will set the tone of how she continues to like going to school.
Mary

Hey Mary,
Thanks for reading and commenting. She is attending a fine arts school so that is what they specialize in. Maybe she can teach me how to get more creative with UTube videos for my website.

Wow Elaine, that WAS quite a week! You must have an awful lot of spring in your step to be keeping up with that schedule and your granddaughter too. Awesome work! Good luck on the rest of the Year!

Goodness....that was a pretty eventful week but it sounds like every day got better...or you were all just use to the chaos!
Debbie

Hey Debbie,
Thanks for reading and commenting!! After the major chaos of the 1st day and 2nd day we just decided to toss our hands up!!

Looks like you have a full week.

Sounds like everyone is taking it in stride. Upward and onward, better days are a coming!

Hey Donnie,
Thanks for reading and commenting. How else can you take these situations. After the first day we quickly learned that we are not in charge!!

Tried and True

Elaine

It is not the first time nor the last that unseen challenges occurred to anyone beginning a new venture. Life may not be as eventful for a while, yet the concerns won't be near as high either.

Hey Ryan
Thanks for reading and commenting. I realize this is only the beginning but she doesn't!!

Like that 1-2 generic number seton the bus. Is thiss a beginners school!?

Hey Mike,
Oh no, you look closer at the picture than I do.
