Enjoy Your Labor Day!
This weekend is Labor Day weekend in the United States. I would like to talk about what this means. There are many different ways you can enjoy your Labor Day.
DEFINITIONS
There is a lot of confusion about Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veterans Day. I would like to clear this up in this blog today.
Memorial Day is a day celebrating those who died in ACTIVE military service. It is celebrated the last Monday in May in the US.
4th of July is a federal holiday which celebrates the Declaration of Independence. It is celebrated on July 4th in the US.
Labor Day is a public holiday celebrating the working people. It is celebrated on the 1st Monday in September in US and Canada and in other countries on May 1.
Veterans Day is a public holiday which celebrates the end of WW1 and honors veterans and victims of all wars. It is celebrated on November 11 in the US.
WHAT TO DO
I spoke earlier that there are many things that you can do. For instance, I will list a few here
- BBQ
- Picnic
- Camping
- Movie Watching
- Game Night
This is just a few activities. The most important thing is to have family time together!!

Hey Maxine,
Spending time with your family to me is very important. Of course with my kids working we may not get to spend the Entire day together but we can at least spend a few hours enjoying each others company!!

Thank you, Elaine, that is a good explanation as being a non-US citizen I didn't know what your public holidays were and what they were for, except of course the 4th of July
I'm in the know now, so have a good weekend and on your Labour Day.

Have a wonderful Labor Day Elaine. Here in Canada the kids usually return to school the day after, my children are grown now so I don't have to worry to much about it. Though my daughter is returning to college to study Photography and her 3 kids are back to school. I think I will relax and work on my website.
Mary
Hey Mary,

Hey Yvette,
Since both my kids work we will probably just either have game night or movie night with the TV. The important thing is to be together!!!
