Conversations Are Important

I have read some interesting blogs this week plus I have also had interesting conversations with my granddaughter. I would like to show you how I think they relate.

My GRANDDAUGHTER

She will get home on the school bus and when we ask her if she has homework she will say " No".

We will ask " Can I see your binder" because as the parent/ grandparent we have learned to check out her papers anyway.

(This is an everyday event so you would think she would learn what we are going to do)

She has a folder where her home papers are to go. It even states turn in and home work!!!

Excuse #1

Yesterday I opened her binder and she had papers in her turn in side that we had done the previous night. When I asked her why she didn't turn them in she told me "she forgot" but told someone else "that the teacher didn't give her enough time".

She is finding excuses for not getting her work done. How many people in WA do the same thing!!

She also has to read for 20 minutes each night which I know and she did. I ask for her folder so I could sign it that she read. She looked in her backpack for the folder but couldn't find it. She told me she left it at school so she gave me a piece of paper to sign.

Excuse #2

According to her it wasn't HER FAULT because the TEACHER was rushing her out of the building so she didn't get her folder.

Another example of an excuse!!! and Mom is getting fed up with this!!!

I just wonder how many people hide behind simple excuses of not enough time. I know I have been guilty of using this and now with the new mobile blog writing I want to be better.

What I Have Learned

I will try to write at least one blog a week until I move and then once I am completely moved in I hope to increase this.

I haven't figured out how to put pictures on here yet because my images get cut off for some reason.

Elaine, Great analogies and so true. J

Great share Elaine, goals setting now will help her later in life. We have a goal of 2 article a week per website and trying to stick to certain days. It keeps us honestly making the effort.
Blessings

Excuses generally end up causing you more trouble. Whether it is school work, your everyday job or indeed your internet interests.

You are only foo.

Derekling yourself if you think people believe your excuses

Hey Derek,
Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. Her excuse yesterday was that since the teacher had finished the timer or songs she couldn't turn in her papers because it was too late!!! We asked her what would happen if she raised her hand and turned them in. She said she would have lost points. So we asked her what will happen if she turns in the papers tommorow. The same thing. So then we asked what is the difference.

That's a fantastic Goal to start with Elaine. We brought up one of our granddaughters so I know all about the excuses. Jim

Lol
Kids are great mirrors...

And... does she like school and studying?
Seems not her favorite stuff

Hey Fleeky,
She likes school but some of her problem is due to her ADHD and ADD but we don't want her to just not try at all. Because we know when she can and can't.

You are great mirror tooo!

Take care both

Grandaughters are great Elaine!

Kind of the usual I think. Your mum and you have to keep checking on her without being too invasive.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog!!!
We're trying to teach her to take responsibility for her actions instead of blaming others. This is something that her father does who is VERY irresponsible. We don't want her to grow up like that.
