The Tale of 4 Cats

Six years ago when my wife worked at the local animal shelter, we fostered four sibling kittens until they were old enough to be adopted.

Guess who adopted all four!

Three were females and one was a male. We named then Charlie and his Angles, Kelly, Kris and Sabrina, from the 70s/80's TV Series. The cover pic shows Kris.

Two of them. Kelly and Charlie, died suddenly over the years. We were left with Kris on the left and Sabrina,

A few weeks ago, Kris stopped eating and drinking. We tried everything to get her to eat and drink with no success.

I got advice from Fran from Wealthy Affiliate who has a cat website, and she did her best to help us figure out foods the cat would like. But Fran advised us to take it to the vet.

It was hard to get any appointments during this pandemic so the best we could do was to talk to the vet on the phone. The vet told us if we couldn't get it to take in food and water, it would start to use up its body fat. And that would lead to organ failure,

Vet Appointment Too Late

Wher we eventually got an appointment, Kris had withered away, showing the classic signs of kidney failure.

The best we could do was to feed it water mixed with chicken broth. That managed to keep it alive and alert. At least for a few more days. We knew what would eventually happen.

Two nights ago she disappeared into her hiding place between the sofa and the under lining.

Kris Passed Away Quietly

When I went to check for her yesterday, she had passed away. We left her exposed so the other cats and dogs could see her and know what had happened. We now have three dpgs and three cats legt.

They all wandered over to the dead cat and paid their respects. Their repeated looks said it all. They knew they had lost their cat friend.

I took Kris to be cremated. No we didn't order an urn like this!

Her sister, Sabrina, the sole survivor of Charlie and his Angels has been wandering around looking for Kris. What worries me now is last night Sabrina disappeared into Kris's hiding place.

We think they must have a gene problem since three of them lived much less than cats normally do. However, we hope that Sabrina will live much longer. So far she is in good health, eating and drinking.

Any Way For A Learning Experience?

How can I relate this to affiliate marketing?

Since we have several pets, it is easier to handle the loss of one. Like having multiple streams of income in business.

When we get one of our websites to do well, that would be the time to develop the next. Then rinse and repeat.

What do you think?

Anyone who has pets who passed away will know they are like loosing a member of the family. Our home is filled with boxes of pet ashes going back 30 years. We just cannot let them go.

Sorry to hear of your loss Edwin. It reminded me of what my father told me many years ago. We lived on a farm and had digs , a cat and a Bantom chook. One day our cat disappeared and our other animals seemed upset. When I asked my father where our cat might be hiding he said 'She's old son , and I'd say she's gone somewhere to hide and die peacefully. Years later we discovered her skeleton under an old outhouse we were demolishing. Jim

What an amazing story! Thanks for your kind words and sharing the story of your cat.

Cheers.

Edwin

Edwin I feel for your loss but I look up to you for turning this tragedy around and could us it for the WA's good we had a cat Sassy cat I rescued we lost our home and the lady at the storage unit said she would watch the cat well we got her back with 2 kittens I believe in my hart that they screwed up her delivery and i don't think she finished her delivery because she still had lumps in her stomach' she got out somehow 3 weeks ago and we can't find her anywhere so were afraid the same thing happened

Hi Bill,

So sorry to hear of two recent tragedies in your life. Losing your home as well as your cat, Sassy.

Over the years we have had many pets, mostly cats. Wild cats even used to take shelter in our garage. One of them got taken away by a big owl many years ago.

All our pets are indoor pets now because of the predators out there. We live near a mountain range.

Thanks for your support and kind words.

Edwin

Edwin where do you live I like mountains

Would you believe in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountain Range located in the north of LA? Mt Baldi rises to over 10,000 ft and is covered in snow in the winter months. They actually have skiing up on several areas. More suited for amateurs than pros.

The San Fernando Valley where I technically live is bordered by the Santa Susana and San Gabriel mountain ranges in the north and the Santa Monica mountains and Hollywood Hills in the south.

If you don't live in California it may be surprising to some that there are mountains all around LA.

Thanks for asking.

Edwin

not at all north california is very beautiful than you for you're come back on my question

Hi Bill,

Just to clarify, these mountains are in Southern California where LA is located. However, northern California also has mountains and looks beautiful.

California as a whole has very diverse geography.

Cheers.

Edwin

yes it does I've only been there a couple time and I was a truck driver so I was very limited on what I could do

Hello Edwin
I know how you feel about losing Kris. But in one respect I have a different opinion. I have had many cats and dogs throughout my life. When they went to heaven, I suffered a lot for each one. Now I'm retired and I made a website about cats. I have a column about my personal cats in which I pay homage to them. I can't forget the ones I lost and it's good for me to write about them.
I'm glad to find another animal lover.
Carmen

Hi Carmen,

Thanks so much for your encouraging words. What a great idea to keep your deceased cats still in your life through a homage website. I've never heard of that before.

My wife used to work in the office of our local animal shelter for a long time. Hence, we adopted so many pets over the years I've lost count. We definitely adopted more cats than dogs.

All the best to you.

Edwin

Hello Edwin
Kriss looked very much like a kitten of mine, Sera. I wrote a post today, I hope you don't mind that I gave you some kind of example and I also posted Kriss's picture, without your consent. But he looks so much like Sera. He also went to heaven. Yesterday I wrote his story. I don't think it's a coincidence. It's something beyond my comprehension.

That is sad Edwin. You just talked about 2 of my favorite things. Cats (all animals really) and Charlie's Angels.

I loved Charlie's Angels when I was a young girl. In fact, I thought that I would grow up to be a private investigator and own a motorbike. I imagined taking my helmet off, then swishing and flicking back my long hair. Do you remember Kelly's character doing that in the opening credits? LOL

I loved my little cat too at that time, snoozy, but she got run over.

I wish Sabrina a long life.

Louise

Oh no Louise, so sorry to hear about Snoozy being run over. And yes, I do remember that opening credit scene.

Besides Sabrina we have two other cats. They are my companions and love spending time with me. Their massages are so refreshing too!

Thanks for your kind wishes.

Edwin

I'm so sorry that you lost your beautiful cat. It's so hard to lose a pet that you love. They become part of your family. I agree with Jeff's advice. You need a new kitten to take some of your attention away from your loss. I think all of our pets are waiting for us when it's our turn. So in my opinion, you will see all of your beautiful cats again.
Veronica

Hi Veronica,

We have three more cats and three dogs. They are a tremendous solace after losing Kris. We got all our pets as either kittens or puppies.

Thanks for responding with your kind wishes.

Edwin
