One of my latest Blogs, Ideas For Affiliate Marketing in my new website Affiliate Marketing For Leaders got indexed by Google. I find this reassuring as I was wondering why the delay.

Google Search Console

I have started to follow Jay Niel's advice and submit a request for Indexing using Google Search Console. Why wait for Google to find you when you can let Google know as soon as you publish your post.

I decided to check all the six posts in Search Console and got some surprises. Only 5 were indexed. My latest one was not there yet. I logged in to Google Search Console and submitted a request for indexing.

The latest Search Console does not have The Fetch as Google feature. Instead, the feature URL Inspection has replaced that function. I entered my post URL. I got the message it was not indexed. Along with that message there was a new tab that was labeled Request Indexing, which I did.

House Cleaning

When we first create a website as a newbie, we have just started our online learning process. Hence, our posts are lacking in SEO optimization. In just a few months we learn so much more about how to enhance our posts for improved ranking.

Those earlier posts are still valuable internet real estate. Might as well use what we have learned and perform SEO optimization on them. One of these would be to place links to relevant posts that were created later.

Another improvement could be to edit the language to make it more appealing. When one is satisfied with the changes, it makes sense to submit it to Google for indexing again. It may help get it ranked higher.

Mobile Friendly

Even though WordPress is supposed to be mobile friendly, some Themes we select could be better. Search Console also tells you if your posts are Mobile Friendly. I have an issue with posts on both my websites that have not passed the mobile friendly test.

It is the Enhancements Window that informs if the post is Mobile Friendly. If it is not, you get a message that says the URL has no enhancements. My interpretation of that is as follows.

The post cam still be read on my iPhone very clearly. Hence, the issue must be a minor one. There is clearly more homework to be done. Since I can see my posts that are labeled with no enhancements, I'm not going to worry about this too much for now.

If anyone reading this can shed more light on this subject please do so in the discussion area below.

Authority Site

I have heard this term a lot lately. It describes a website that has been in existence for at least six months, is choc full of valuable content, and has loads of comments.

We cannot control the time factor. That requires patience. But we have full control on writing well researched valuable content in our websites. On Site Content we can give and receive comments. In order to receive we must give first. Every two comments we give allows us to request one comment. There is a good chance that you will receive more than one comment for one asked.

I highly recommend seeking every opportunity to give comments and build up a credit reserve. When you write a new post this will enable you to request comments immediately.

In time your website will become an Authority Site. When that happens, the chances are Google will be more eager to give your posts higher ranks. And so will Bing and Yahoo.

Rankings

Getting a post indexed by Google is just the initial step. The next goal is to get ranked high in the search engines.

Following that, you want not only traffic, but also those who visit to linger on your post for enough time because what they found was worth reading.

The final goal is to make a sale, followed by repeat customers.

Due Process

I call this due process. Google can't be rushed. While waiting, the best way to gain an advantage is to become an expert in SEO and write content that uses this knowledge.

There is so much training on SEO, starting with the OEC. Jay's webinars have a wealth of information on this topic.

Along with learning all about SEO, it is necessary to know enough about Google Analytics and Google Search Console to verify the results.

Don't overlook Bing Webmaster Tools either. When you use Bing, you get two for one since Yahoo is closely linked to Bing.

Final Thoughts

When you are notified that your website, posts and pages are indexed in Google, it is worthy of celebration. Just realize that is the start of a process you need to be aware of in order to take full advantage of the tools of the trade.

Great information there Edwin. I have so little patience sometimes that I have to remember to take a couple steps back and let things happen as they happen. But I will only do this when it is out of my control.
What I mean by that is this, when I think I can find a way to get things rolling or going faster I will always look for that way. I've never been one to sit back and watch and see what happens without me being or trying to be part of what happens.
I quit school at the start of 10th grade because, or what I used as an excuse anyway, my girlfriend got pregnant and I wanted to work full time to take care of her and my new baby. Long story and that I won't go into here.....lol
Anyway, the reason I brought that up is, even though I didn't complete or even go to high school, I went and learned as much as possible in my chosen field so I could become more valuable and a bigger asset to the company I worked for.
I eventually proved myself and became a single store manager. Went on to becoming the General Manager of the main location and while making this company a whole lot of money, because the owner had little to very little knowledge of glass work and hired me because I did have the knowledge, because he was in Insurance before buying a glass franchise.
Anyway, I made a name for myself and ended up having head hunters calling me and trying to steal me away. Eventually I got the right call for the right job and money and had to lie (a little) about my education so I could look worth the money they were offering me.
Longer story short, I eventually got to a six figure dream job without a formal education but that doesn't mean I didn't have to study and continue to learn all I could about glass, business and about computers. Computers were just starting to be used in the glass business.
I guess all saying is we all need to and should learn everything about everything to do with our chosen field. I know it will keep changing and I know very little about it now, let alone the changes...lol
Sorry everyone. I get way too carried away
Maybe that'll help me write content? Who knows...
Thanks Edwin for getting me fired up again...
Keith

Keith, your story supports a theory that the structure of our formal education is overrated. There are many ways to make yourself valuable to a company. I salute you for finding your unique way.

I’m so delighted you got fired up from my blog post. Guess what, often I read my own posts and get fired up too lol. I wonder did I really write that ha!

Keep your spirits high and enjoy the process.
