Obsession - Can This Emotion Be Beneficial In Building Your Business?

Have you watched the long-standing TV series called Vikings? My wife used to watch it but I didn't. Without having seen it at all I thought this was a documentary series on the Vikings.

Recently I got a new iPhone 11 and decided to purchase a phone case from Amazon. In order to get free shipping I took the free 30-day trial to Amazon Prime. One of the benefits of Prime is free access to the movies on Amazon.

O Dear, Blood And Gore!

The first movie that caught my attention was Vikings. I checked out the first episode and discovered this was not a documentary at all. Vikings was a blood and gore drama series about the Vikings and their adventures of conquest, rivalries and war in the late 700's. It began with pillaging of the monastery of Lindisfarne in the Kingdom of Northumbria.

I became obsessed and started binge watching the 6 seasons that have been released. Over a period of one week I have caught up and ready for Season 7.

Obviously during the past week I reduced the time I spent on my business, Yet I was able to publish one post on my website and write two posts in Weathy Affiliate. As well as comment on many posts and watch the Friday live webinar. This got me thinking about the following question.

Balance

What results could I have achieved if I directed a similar obsession to my business?

Being obsessed with something is often viewed as a destructive emotion, This can be true if that obsession dominates one's thoughts and actions to the exclusion of everything else.

What if obsession could be controlled so that didn't happen? Is it possible to be obsessed in building one's business and yet keep a balance in one's daily life?

I think that is possible. Because when I was obsessed in watching Vikings I still managed to spend time on my business as well as in other important areas of my life. Having completed watching Vikings, I have more time available and decided to apply that same obsession to my business.

There are so many more actions I need to take in my business plan.

What About You?

Do you have any examples of being obsessed with an activity not in connection with your business that you can share? What impact did that have on your business, negative or positive.

Alternately would you consider yourself obsessed with your affiliate marketing business?

I have come to the conclusion that those individuals who have become extremely successful in affiliate marketing, either here in WA or independently, are obsessed in building their business.

Being obsessed can also be viewed as being laser focused. When we consider all the attention to detail necessary for success, is there any other way to achieve success without being laser focused?

I don't think so. What do you think?

Much Needed Break

It was a nice break not to be focused on my business for a week. I had just completed 100 posts on my website. However, I realize that the time has come to do more on my business.

I have got to become obsessed with it if I want to develop it into the success I have planned.

There was a lesson I learned by watching Vikings. In order to survive and thrive in hostile environments they had to be laser focused on their mission.

This ranged from farming and hunting for food, creating homes, developing warriors and preparing for battle. I was very impressed with the level of detail that was applied in their planning activities. The principles for success are timeless.

I eagerly look forward to your comments on this topic of OBSESSION in connection with building a successful affiliate marketing business.

Much success to you.

I think the root of being obsessed is having a passion.

Very well stated Joseph.

Well done, Edwin! We all need breaks from our businesses every now and then! You know what they say about all work and no play? Anyhow, you still managed to channel it back into a very good post, my friend!

Enjoy your weekend!

Jeff

Thanks you Jeff.

Big UP!

Loved your comment David!

Cheers.

I agree. There are times when I want to escape and do nothing. In watching movies, I justify that it is “me” time. Then hours have passed and I felt empty. Thank you for this reminder.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for commenting. Glad this was of help.
