My Blog Post Got Ranked #1 On Google!

This is what I reported about my Affiliate Marketing Website in my Last Blog:

"I know that marketing Wealthy Affiliate on my Affiliate website will be tough. This is the Making Money Online category that is highly competitive. It has been harder to get my website Blogs ranked compared to my niche website where competition is lower."

I got a surprise today. Since I had written 8 interconnected blogs detailing the Wealthy Affiliate Platform, I thought I'd check for search engine rankings. Would my overview Blog Post get ranked? I hoped so as the 7 linked Blog Posts on the various functions of the platform were detailed.

The following is the first result I got:

My overview post did get ranked #1 on Google liked I hoped. In the process of doing more searches. I got another surprise on Yahoo:

I Ranked Higher Than Wealthy Affiliate!

One of my new Blog Posts got ranked #1 on Yahoo. But that is not what surprised me. Look at who is #2. None other than Wealthy Affiliate! Somehow I managed to get a higher rank, I do not know how! I was flabbergasted.

There is more!. My Home page, Affiliate Marketing For Leaders got ranked #2 on Google, #1 on BIng and #1 on Yahoo.

There were others that got ranked on the first page, but in the lower 10.

After months of no rankings at all in this highly competitive Making Money Online category, I got several good rankings after Independence Day.no less!

The Takeaway

The takeaway I want to leave readers, especially newbies, is that this is the kind of results you can get by following the training and putting into action what you are taught. It works! I have only been here for six months.

My traffic is still low. I am not worried about that as I am sure as I publish more articles that will increase with time.

I know that many members have done better than I have in less time. This website has only been online since the Super Affiliate Challenge from March 2019.

Heck, I'm very happy with these results and so excited I wanted to share them with the Wealthy Affiliate community.

I'm going to end with a Huge THANK YOU to Kyle and Jay who whose trainings and webinars helped me build my website in a way to get these results.

The part that can mislead you is you are doing exact matches for your full post title instead of just your keyword/search term. That lowers the odds someone will actually find your site. I can rank number 1 all day long for Affiliate 3 Percent but that doesn't mean someone will search for my domain yet. It is frustrating at times in the MMO niche because most searches in the niche are too generic and high competition but there are a ton of low hanging fruit you can easily pick off because most MMO niche bloggers just don't have a clue about targeting LHF keywords or Long Tail SEO.

When I first started out in SEO I got excited over ranking for my own domain and my mentor quickly shut me down and said who is looking for your domain? I mean who are you? I was shocked and hurt but I knew he was right. I have no doubt you will soon rank for all your keywords my friend.

+1 honest comment.

Yep. I am amazed by the amount of people congratulating Edwin here rather than being honest and telling it like it is as Yuma has done.

It is slightly worrying that so many high ranking WA members can't see the mistake that has been made and honestly pointed out by Yuma.

Thanks for your honesty. I understand my Keywords are not usually what someone will use when conducting a search. The main purpose of this exercise was to see if the Keywords I used would actually rank. As Jay Neil has taught, it is not just the keywords one uses that gets people to your site. It is all the related keywords in the article and the subtitles that play a role.

Maybe you should have a conversation with Jay Neil and Kyle about this subject so that they could use this insight into their training about Keywords. I am using what I have been taught.

Here is my logic, When I enter the keywords exactly and they do not rank, then what chance is there if I enter possible search terms? Once I get ranked for the exact keywords, that instills confidence that I am on the right track to achieve better results.

You should know that the majority of the keywords I have used have not ranked on the 1st pages when I enter them exactly.

Now that you have told me what I have done wrong, which I appreciate by the way, I would love it if you could point me to training or webinars here that explain the proper and more accurate way to test for keywords.

That would be a great help not only to me but to a lot of other newbies like myself. Because I have seen many members report that they have been ranked #1 on the search engines using the same test approach in Jaaxy.

This is all a learning process and once again I thank you for your input.

Edwin

Me too! My conclusion is this opens a flaw in the training process. I truly do not know better as I have only been here six months and consider myself a newbie.

Don't get mislead by my rank, There is no relationship between rank and knowledge gained in online marketing. The rank here is related to how active one is on WA in various forms.

I an intelligent enough to know that the results I got will not lead to traffic and earnings. I have even said that my websites are rather new and I need to build my blog post count up to at least 100 before I can be considered an Authority site by Google.

Perhaps when that occurs, I will stand a better chance of being found when real life search terms are used.

I am here for the long haul and fully intend to make this a success.

All the best to you.

Edwin

Since you echoed YumaBloggers sentiment I thought it appropriate if I copied my response to him here:

+1 for you. Honest reply

"Don't get mislead by my rank, There is no relationship between rank and knowledge gained in online marketing. The rank here is related to how active one is on WA in various forms."

I hesitated to mention this, I'd offense a bunch of WA loyalties(Royalties).

It's all good.

I started to let members who cheered me on know that I may have misled them regarding the ranking information I got. I thanked then anyway for their encouragement.

At least you know that I have an open mind and know I have a lot more to learn. So do a lot of other people here who approach checking for rank the same way.

I need to figure our a more accurate way to check for rank as I do not want to mislead myself.

Any feedback from you on this topic will be much appreciated.

Edwin

The thing Jay and Kyle stress most often in regards to search terms is that it be a human voice is what I am getting at. A Human will type "How do I grow chili peppers?" Your title could be "How do I grow chili peppers in Denver Colorado?" and you might be number one for the latter but not number one for "How do I grow Chili Peppers?" is what I am trying to say.

NOTE: I revised my previous statement because my intent was lost in part by my choice of wording. I was not trying to imply Edwin was misleading you but instead that we all get mislead when we search the exact match titles or our domain names instead of the keywords within them. I apologize to Edwin and anyone who took my sleep-deprived statement as offensive.

Well said Edwin, Thank you!

This is all very new to me and
what you have accomplished
is a major milestone to me and
others here who have no clue
what we are doing yet!

So much to learn so many miles
to travel and enjoying the journey!

Thank you for taking the time to share
your achievements and i look forward to
your future successes.

Also thank you so much for your wonderful
attitude in the face of opposition, that is a good
lesson for all of us.

I was just about to ask this question because I noticed the top two boxes have the exact title of the post then the direct website however I haven't gotten as far to even look over jaxxy for I wasn't sure if that is how it looks as in jaxxy automatically fills in the page name and domain name that you are searching the results/ranking for? I'm confused, do you type in the information or would you want to type in keywords in the left first box and leave the .com box to the right blank? That would make more sense - either way great job Edwin, I am just wanting to clarify for myself for personal knowledge so I can utilize this tool soon!

Hey Edwin, I am replying in regards to your response to @YumaBloggers feedback - when you say that you are searching for exact keywords can you please explain? I have not even started anything here yet but I do have some understanding of SEO and keywords so please help me understand... I was under the impression keywords are words that your post is about and that you put throughout your post i.e I write a blog titled The truth about going from black hair to platinum blonde exposed and I type in a few "keywords" into the SEO plugin such as black to platinum hair, black to platinum from home, icy platinum hair.... I write my post then go to jaxxy and search as you did. For me to search my ranking and type in the exact keywords as you stated you did would I be correct in assuming I would type in one of the keyword phrases, or maybe all of them separately to see if my website comes up on the first page or where/if it ranks at all, or are you saying that you type in the blog title exactly as you have it instead of the keywords? I guess what I am asking is if you are referring to your keywords and blog post title as the same thing? I am confusing myself now, anyways I wish you the best here and good job getting so far in 6 months I have not even gotten myself to stick to this training let alone create content, etc so keep up the persistence and I'm sure you will rock :)

You type in the keywords you wish to search for your site under. You can also choose to have them auto tracked daily, weekly, or monthly.

I know this is a late response. After my initial euphoria you got me thinking. The points you made are so true.

My Keywords happen to be what appears in the Permalink. I would appreciate it if you explained to me the difference between a Full Post Title and the Keyword search term.

For example, one of my posts has the Title:
Is Affiliate Marketing The Best Way To Make Money From Home

This also happens to be the keyword I used word for word. When I insert this Keyword/Title in Jaaxy Rank Search I got #2 for Bing and Yahoo. 0 for Google.

I went to Bing Search Engine and entered my title which is a natural question that someone could ask. The results matched. I was #2 on Bing and #7 on Yahoo. And a big 0 for Google.

At this point in my short foray into Affiliate Marketing, about 6 months and this website has been in existence for about 4 months, I really am not sure what all of this means. I sure am not getting any Wealthy Affiliate sign ups which is the main purpose of my website.

Out of my 23 posts, 6 of them are ranked on the 1st pages of the search engines for the Keywords. I have no idea if the others are ranked down below, but I am not worried about that.

My focus is to build up my content and learning how to find effective LHF Keywords. This is still a work in progress.

I thank you so much for your encouragement. Of course, I also wish you much success in your online business.

Edwin

No harm no foul YumaBloggers. I appreciated the points you made as you truly had my interest at heart.

Cheers.

Edwin

Congrats Edwin, woohoo awesome for you and your business!

So glad to hear about your ranking and that all your hard work over the months is starting to pay off.

Wishing you continued success and thank you so much for sharing how and what you did with the community.

Take care,
Sue:)

Sue, I truly appreciate your encouraging words. Still a long way to go. This is a good place to be after 6 months.

Much success to you.

Edwin

Congratulations. Your title is really a keyword, unique.

Thanks so much Jimmy! You’re most kind :)

Edwin

Edwin,
That is fabulous news. And to be ranked one above the teacher (WA)feels good doesn't it? But it does prove that the training we get is super!

Barbara, the training here is spot on. It’s hard focused work, but well worth it. Thanks for your encouraging words.

All the best to you.

Edwin

Well done & Congratulations Edwin
It just proves how the training can elevate the rankings.

Denis

Denis, thanks so much for your encouraging words. The training here is tops!

Edwin

Good job Edwin . Congratulations :)

Wooow. It's amazing! Congratulations Edwin!

Well done Edwin. Its great when you sart to see these achievments.

Hi Kevin,

There were a few members who felt that the results I got were not representative of real rankings and were misleading. I was not aware of that.

I wrote an addendum to my post that I feel you should read as that may help you understand why.

Regardless, I always appreciate your kind words of encouragement and thank you for that.

I wish you much success.

Edwin

Dont worry Edwin I know exactly what others are saying. They of course have a point and I realised that was the case when I commented.

It doesn't detratct from the fact that you are at least ranking where you should be for you full post title and believe it or not, not everyone does that.

More than anything it shows the Google knows you exist. Over time by following best practice you will start to rank higher for more "realistic" search terms.

I prefer to focus on the positivlty that you felt when you saw the results and know that they will be achived in the future with "real searches"

Have a great week

Kevin

Kevin, you have the mind of a true mentor. I felt reassured getting your response.

This is a great learning experience. My focus is to write more blogs and get better in selecting more effective search keywords.

Thanks for your encouragement.

Edwin

Awesome stuff, Congrats Edwin!

Hi KAJU, thanks for your encouragement. It means a lot.

Edwin

Congratulations, great to see and learn from your success in a highly competitive Niche! Well done : )

Hi Sara, you’re most kind. Thanks for your encouragement.

Edwin
