I Wrote My Longest Blog - Over 2,500 Words! Why?
One of the SEO lessons I have learned is that the recommended 1000 words for a Blog is the bare minimum. Experienced Bloggers aim for 2000 to 3000 words of quality content. And Google likes that.
While I was writing my latest Blog I didn't have the word count in my mind. I just wrote. And when I notice I was approaching 2000 words, I wasn't done. Finally, I completed it and saw the word count was over 2500.
What Was This Blog About?
I conducted a review of the Walmart Affiliate Program. My approach was quite different from the other reviews I came across. Having recently worked at Walmart I was able to address my message to not only the general public, but also to the employees of Walmart.
We all know that Walmart has a reputation of low pay. That is gradually changing. The minimum wage is rising and Walmart has a plan to raise it to $15. It is currently between $10 and $11.
Hence, I invited the employees to check out the Walmart Affiliate Program and consider it a way to earn additional income.
My other motivation to do this review was to justify Walmart as an alternative to Amazon after I heard how many Amazon affiliates are losing their status.
Walmart Niches
Although the Walmart online store offers far more items than their brick and mortar stores, I advised the employees to use their position to their advantage. I also gave advice on how to select their niche based on the products in their store. As you can imagine, it is pretty much without limit, much like Amazon.

SEO Considerations
This was my first Blog where I filled out the meta tags in WordPress. I also added links within my website as well as one to an external authority site.
But this time I waited till I received the comments I requested, and responded to those comments before performing the URL Inspection in Google Search Console.
I also did something new. I clicked the Live Test button and got results I had never seen before. You can see that below.
This looks promising to me. I am pretty sure it will be indexed before long. However, I have no idea what canonical means in this context. I know what canon means in music and in religion. But not here. It is something I am sure I will learn about as I proceed deeper into Online Marketing.
Goal
I have two more posts to write by Sunday's deadline to meet one of the SAC goals of writing and publishing 12 posts. I have my ideas in place and will be working on the next one as soon as I publish this WA Blog.

Great review Edward. In NYC, they raised the minimum wage to $15 per hour on Dec 31, 2018.
I hope Walmart is going in that direction.

Thinking of canonical in these terms, the content is indexed and is the canonical URL in so much as it is the preferred version of the content, in a way it prevents duplicate content, as Google recognizes it as the original version of that content URL.
This can also extend to copied content, Google will recognize your version over other versions.
I hope that makes sense, there is more to it, just scratching the surface.

I just wrote a 2,267 word blog post before coming across this WA post, so I can relate very much to what you did. I bet it hurts in the head, right? lol
Ah Dominic, I have ADD so I cannot write it all in one sitting. I split it up into two or three sittings and do something else in between. In that way I avoid the head pain lol. Glad you could relate though!
